So after watching TDKR, I had to try my hand at making a diorama in one of my favorite scenes in the movies

http://www.joblo.com/newsimages1/tdkr-bane-voice.jpg

http://www.flicksandbits.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/batman-bane-christian-bale-tom-hardy-the-dark-knight-rises-fight.jpg

So since I'm a student, the biggest challenge was doing this diorama at a low cost (hopefully free :) )

So luckily I had some foam board (from promotional signs) that I got from working at a retail store awhile back

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/9d586565.jpg

I really wanted to incorporate the bank to this diorama, just because the scene where Bane breaks Batman's mask from just the vicious beating with his fist was sooo memorable.

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/fa4785bb.jpg

Too close out the gap from the bank to the vertical wall, I used some large cardboard paper and covered the entire bank with lip

So to simulate the grates in the walkway, I used plastic mesh (that's used with yard to make little ornaments, etc)

Also started work on the stairs

Woke up early and finished painting the stairs

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/45f39d23.jpg

Now to start the water effect. Probably going to be the hardest part

CTO15

I started to lay down plastic sheets (used from plastic food containers, pop bottles, etc) to use as the main structure for the water

I might have to re-work the edges a bit

So I went to Home Depot and picked up some clear silicon (caulking used for bathroom, kitchen etc)

I think I got the texture of the water

With a figure to give you a sense of scale. Sorry, I don't have DX 2 to give it a better look

So, another project to keep me busy during the summer before school starts :panic:

Since I have a DX 02 coming in (if Canada Post would hurry up already :gah:), and the Bruce sculpt from the Toy Fairs ex Batman, I figured I would put together a HK scene Batman. Well of course, I'm going to need a diorama for Batman to be standing on.

If you have been following my other project (Bane sewers (http://www.sideshowcollectors.com/forums/showthread.php?t=114462)) you'll know that I'm a student and funds are the primary constraint on my projects. So my goal is to keep this project under $50, while maintaining some accuracy to the source material

Here is some reference material that I'm sure we are all familiar with

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/batmanhk8.png

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/batmanhk9.png

Things that I will be including in this diorama:
-LED lights with a switch
-the ability to power the lights to a usb/wall outlet
-real glass for the windows underneath Batman
-I'll include the backdrop as well

My awful sketch of the section I'll be making
http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/93fd712e.jpg

Materials I'll be using:
-Foam board - because I am cheap lol
-I have some switches coming in from eBay
http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NDAwWDQwMA==/$(KGrHqR,!joE+36iCudnBP+s-9N8Iw~~60_12.JPG
-styrene (the most costly material in my project)

Here's what I have so far

http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/5e94632e.jpg

I will widening the landing on which Batman is standing on, it's too thin in this picture
http://i299.photobucket.com/albums/mm320/cto15/Action%20Figures/Hot%20Toys/a70b80fc.jpg

I do feel the box I made is way to long in depth, so it might be something that I'll be adjusting

and of course, and comments or critiques are welcomed. I can only get become better from here.

Hey guys,

finally got some work done on the dio.

I was able to go on a styrene run today, so I was able to finish up some parts today.

Styrene added to edge of the dio for a smooth ledge

hey, thanks man!

Styrene sheets were bought from a local hobby store here (that has models and train kits)

Its the TDK HK dio because in the scene where Batman jump off the building, that building and scene were in HK. I'm from Winnipeg :)
