this is going to sound ridiculous since I am in Vancouver but we had ours already, I bought mine online to be safe, for those who didn't there was a 3-4 hour line up just to purchase the tickets. I was scared because I thought that was the line to get in, So i asked someone and they said nope you can walk right in, if you were scared because of that huge line up that's just the people who didn't pay in advance.

Not only that but once inside there was a line to take your tickets. I don't see the downside of buying them in advance. I assume the one you guys are having will be way more popular

When you buy tickets online you have to exchange the print out for a pass/wristband. These lines are very long on the first day (which is why my wife and I arrive Thursday night and attend Friday morning).

You can buy tickets onsite and on the first day, the line is usually a little shorter than the advanced pickup line but you'll have to wait in line with the advance ticket holders after anyways (so be prepared to wait in line).

Advanced tickets get you in early on Thursday, but you'll end up waiting in line so I'd recommend arriving at at least two hours before the early admittance of 2pm. If you pick up your tickets Friday morning you'll be in line probably 5 minutes at most.

Don't get trampled.....:p

I wonder if Hasbro will debut Season 5 of The Clone Wars there? They are debuting it at C6 a week earlier and its something they have done before.

If you're looking to get autographs be prepared to wait in line 2-3 hours for some of the more popular celebrities. Most do not charge and if they do it is listed or you should be able to ask one of the fanexpo workers. What my wife and I do is shop on the first day (Thursday) and get autographs/ sit in on wookshops the second (Saturday). Saturday is by far the busiest day of the whole 4 days so be prepared to wait to get in if you get there later than 10am. They do have food inside the convention centre but the line ups are long and the foods is pretty expensive. Luckily there are a dozen restaurants in the area and food stands just outside.

They're are lots of cosplayers and they for the most part love having there picture taken. You should still ask however.

Bring cash! :D I'm not sure how it works at Fan Expo Canada, but when I attended Fan Expo Vancouver, some of the sellers and comic artists there only accepted cash. :(

Bring a big backpack! It will be easier to lug your haul around the convention. :D

Also I would suggest bringing some snacks and drinks in case you are stuck in a lineup for awhile.

Yeah, there will definitely be some awesome costumes at the convention. Just like this guy from Fan Expo Vancouver:

so this is gonna be my first convention that I'm going to and I heard that if you wanna purchase some stuff, (Marvel Universe and Legends for me) what day do you suggest going on?

I heard it's best not to go Thur because everyone is still loading their stuff to sell.

Some of the local venders will offer debt/credit but the reception can be spotty at best. Cash, preferably small bills are preferred. The cash machines in the lobby of hotel that is attached is usually empty by Friday night.

A back pack is not necessary as many of the sponsors give away large bags for free. I have noticed in recent years they are pron to being searched by security on the way in/out while they don't both people with bags.

Snacks and drinks are a good idea though there is plenty to buy.

Go Friday early in the morning, crowds are light and you won't have to wait to get in like you will on Thursday.

I just don't want people to get confused by this. While I'm sure there are lots of free autographs to be had(likely voice actors and comic artists) the main celebrities will be charging an autograph fee for sure.

So if your looking at meeting Stan Lee or Gillian Anderson or Levar Burton, so on - be prepared to pay from roughly $20-$80 for an autographed print depending on the size of the celebrity.

Major celebrities do these events because a pay day is involved for them.

I will have a booth like last year (nick is "star wars guy").

I will have literally hundreds of carded figures from the various star wars lines. I also have very high end custom statues (Marvel & DC) as well as the usual suspects (GG,Koto,Bowen,SS,MR, Attakus etc).

Hey guys,
I noticed some of you already got your tickets, are they available online? I went to the fan expo site and it looks like you can only pick up 1 day passes at the con and not online.

Also Im planning on going Saturday, are the line ups going to be crazy? Is Sunday better?

I was thinking of going Sunday but then I might miss out on stuff that was sold Friday and Saturday.

I know Saturday is gonna be pretty busy overall so lines inside and outside are gonna be equally crazy. I think unless you want like some day 1 exclusive, just general stuff from all the other vendors won't be flying off the pegs/tables that fast.

If anyone wants, I got a few snips of the first 2 days on my tumblr (http://kshindauz.tumblr.com/search/fanexpo2012) didn't manage to snap pics of any of the guests but oh well.

I was there on Saturday around 10 am, oh my god that lineup took forever. Spent about an hour in that lineup heading down the tunnel.

I know a lot of people attend Fan Expo but the organizers have to do something about getting theri system under control.

Still it was lots of fun, got to pick up a lot of things I was looking for.

I went Saturday morning too, and that line was horrendous! When they split the line into cash and debit, I thought, "Oh yeah! If I move over to debit I'll be WAY ahead in line!". But those morons only had 3 debit lines and 10 cash lines. And then the staff have the gall to be pissy with people in the debit line who, when they FINALLY get to move from the big line to the smaller pay lines, go to the cash lines which are shorter and faster.

I think this will be my last time going. The convention is totally over-crowded. All the staff is rude as hell. And if you want to meet any of the guests worth meeting, be prepared to wait all day in line.

Went 3 years in a row now but I think this year was the last. Line was crazy, yes. Packed with people, yes. I don't really find anything I wanted. I think I'll only go to the little expos now. Lots more cheaper stuff there and entry is cheaper as well. Goodbye fan expo
