So when I heard that the new articulation was out for the DCIH figures, I got really excited. I got these from a dude in Texas. Once I got the figures, I was disappointed.

The figures look slick, and the sculpts are great. It's just that they're way too fragile. I was super careful, but I still managed to snap off Major Force's leg at the knee joint. Brutal.

Lex and Hawkman both have the old articulation. Hawkman is just another repack of the 3 pack, and Lex is literally a new head on The Question. Gorilla Grodd is solid, and overall just awesome.

The new articulation is pretty good. No double jointed knees or elbows, so definitely not as good as MU, but much better than before. I think these figures look better than their predecessors, but quality-wise, they suck. The paint sucks, and as I said before, they're fragile. Batman's cape was glued on weird, making it look all bunched up around the shoulders, so I had to do some surgery with a knife to fix it and glue it properly. I shouldn't have to do that on a new figure. There was extra paint just flaking off the figures when I got them out of the package. Not a big deal on that because you can pull it off, but again, I shouldn't have to do that.

All three new figures all share the same body sculpt. The slimmer sculpt is better for Batman, but for Superman, I would have liked him to be thicker.

Overall, I don't know if I like them better. They're different, so as long as I don't fool around with them much, they look awesome on the shelf, but the older figures are more durable and work better as toys.

EDIT: after much fiddling, I find the Superman and Batman figures quite fun. Once the joints are loose, the toys are fine. I've come around and I think these are definitely an improvement on the older figures. Major Force has his leg crazy glued back on, which means he can't move it, but whatever. Definitely not MU, but at least it's a start for Mattel.

nice to see that new articulation has been added to DCIH. But I've still given up on this line due to the giant monkey paws on characters and the lack of accessories

I know what you mean. A lot of people have. It's almost like "Too little, too late." They did fix everything, including the hands. Joints on the ankle, knee, hips, elbows, swivel wrists, etc. After my Major Force incident, I'm sort of afraid to move the ankles though. They look... weak. I still have the Batman, captain atom, Black Lightning pack coming, so we'll see how those are quality wise. I'm not expecting anything different. At least with the older DCIH, they were pretty solid toys. My 2 year nephew old loves his Flash and totally yanks and pulls its limbs every which way, still no breakage. He'd probably destroy these ones, which is why they're going on the higher shelves and out of his reach:)

We'll see what Mattel has to say about these making it to Canadian shelves.

That would be nice ^^. Still might want some to keep MOSC.

They look pretty good with the new articulation. Almost good enough for me to bit. Although, I gotta say that if the do the core JL and TT member with this articulation, I may bite for my 3.75 collection.

So I had the PE 3 pack with Captain Atom and Black Lightning mailed to me.

The quality is the same as the other six pack, with Batman being the duplicate figure. This Batman, however, is much better than the first one I got, which had his cape glued on wrong. Captain Atom, however, was so stiff due to paint seeping into the joints, that it took me 30 minutes to get his joints loose. After what happened to my Major Force figure where his leg snapped off, I was super paranoid and I worked very diligently to get the arms and legs moving. Once the joints are loose, it's fine, but it's kind of scary at first trying to get them to move. You really have to take a x-acto knife and chip away at it, while slowly and gently wiggling the limb back and force, making sure to keep lots of pressure on it to not pull the joint too much. Black Lightning has the old T-crotch which is really lame considering the rest of him is new for the most part. Doesn't make sense: if you're going to do a new Black Lightning, give him the new articulation. :(

I gotta say, until the quality gets better, I can't justifiably recommend these figures, unless you're a diehard like me and desperately wanted a fully articulated 3.75" Batman and Superman.

Got DCIH Martian Manhunter in the mail today. I like the sculpt, but the cape is kind of silly. A well. The good news is, the quality is noticeably better than the PE stuff, which gets a huge thumbs up from me. :) Like the PE figures, he has all new articulation. For once, I am not afraid of breaking the figure.

The female figures need better articulation. It's something that hasn't been addressed, and really needs to be. They have no elbow or wrist articulation, no ankle articulation, and their hip joints are so that when you bend the leg, it bends at an awkward angle. The sculpt looks better than ball jointed hips, but no where near as functional. IMO, the female figures are the weakest in the line. Also, because some of the figures have long hair, and it's hard plastic, it limits head movement.

maybe because they make most of the female too thin in arm, which gives them no room for development or joints. But why so big and strong for the Batwoman :p? I though wonderwoman and Powergirl should have the strongest muscular appearance....

Yeah, some of the designs are puzzling. Basically, the old DCIH articulation has less articulation than some 1980's figures. I found that completely strange. Mattel has sort of shot themselves in the foot by not coming out with at least Joe style articulation. Ah well. I think they're catching on, so hopefully we get a lot more of these new articulated figures in Canada soon.

No. None of the DCIH come with stands. The ones I'm using are the official ones from mattycollector.

I would just like to say I agree with you man. I got Powergirl (Same mold as Black Canary it looks like) and I was amazed at how unarticulated she was. The paint apps are fine I suppose, but the articulation is just embarassing.

Yeah, it's almost like you're better off buying a statue.
