Just saw two fresh cases of DCUC wave 11 at the Toys'r'us in Hamilton. The co-workers said they just came in tonight. Price on them is $25.99 each. The tag says "75th anniversary fig" so it looks like TRU is carrying the line full swing now.

Saw these at Bayview & 7 TRU, scanned them and they were $9.XX clearance price. But a guy came and grabbed them all already.

$25.99? Ouch.
I certainly won't be able to complete waves at that price at TRU. Let the cherry-picking begin...

The price is pretty high, but only a buck more than LCS. I'm thinking that if TRU is picking the line up again, perhaps there's hope that Walmart and Zellers will as well, hopefully with lower prices.

Let's hope so. That is a pretty steap price. I am a little torn here, because on the one hand, I really want to build Kilowagg, but on the other, only Batman and Green Lantern (John Stewart) really interest me from this wave.

Quite the conundrum if I do say so myself. :p :D

I just need both the GLs and Steppenwolf to finish up Kilowag and the wave.

Mayhaps I need to give the other pieces in the line a closer look, Shark is already starting to rub off on me. :p

I never picked up Steppenwolf cause I don't know too much about the character, but the more I look at the green version, the more I want to go pick it up.

Yeah dude, Shark is very cool. Question and Deadman are also very awesome, and I don't know much about either of them either.

I have a rule in collecting where I have to reasonably care about or even know about the characters I buy (to keep it under control as I so can not afford completism). Despite this rule, Question and Deadman are in my display (sure I needed them for Kilowog, but I didn't get rid of them as I originally intended, cause they are really cool).

Was also thinking Deadman's head would be wicked for a member of the Sinestro Corps. May pick up the regular version (I nabbed the variant) for just that reason (and to attempt to use the buck for a new Sinestro).

I have the same rule. Being a HIGE Batman fan, of course they'll find their way into my collection as will any subsequent Batman characters such as Batgirl, Riddler or Azrael. Same goes for characters like Green Lantern and Blue Beetle. Whereas, characters that I don't know about like Deadman and Question (I know a bit since Rene Montoya is now Question in the Batman mythos), or characters I just don't care about like Superman or Hawkman, are completely passed by. Otherwise, my wallet would kick my butt. :p

$25.99??? That would be more than $100 for just 4 of the figures before tax...Yikes! :(

What's next...G.I. Joe or Star Wars figures for $50 each? lol

Not that it will do any good, but I think we should all complain to TRU Canada and ask them to justify that price increase, especially when DCUC only costs $12.97 at TRU stores in the U.S.

Not even PayPal's exchange rate is that bad....:p

CTO15

Not that I'm justifying the price of DCUC, but I know that DCUC in the states was to be increased to around 14.99. I don't know if that has been changed yet, but for us to pay $10 more is outragious. and I thought the 16.99 was steep.

Yeah, complaining won't do any good, but I'd be interested in hearing Toys R Us reasons behind the price increase. :p $50 says they'd say something, in one part or another, about the economy. :p LOL

Ooops I meant $25.99 each to equal Kilawog x6! Matty collector has a set of 8 for $120 us. I do recall DCU classics were 16.99 each and then went on clearance for this over priced set to come out at TRU.

This price increase doesn't justify it all.

Either way, $50 still wouldn't be enough to pay for 2 DCUC figures after tax. lol :D:D:D

The thing I don't understand is how they can have single figs for $25.99, and then 2-packs right beside them for $32.99. Ees no maka sense.

Eventually this wave will sell and at the same time be cherry picked at the $25.99 price. Their self life will definitely be longer than expected even for the popular characters.

I see Shark and Deadman as peg warmers and maybe red Steppenwolf? Might as well wait for them to go on clearance. LOL

Sadly, for the price of the entire Wave 11 set (including the Steppenwolf and Deadman variants, which would make it 9 figures in total), one could probably buy themselves a Blu-Ray DVD player and a few Blu-Ray DVDs (now that places like Walmart and HMV have had sales where you can get 2 for $20). Hell, you can buy a regular DVD player with surround sound speakers for less than than the cost of Wave 11. :D

These prices are obscene. It almost feels like in the future, collecting the DCUC figures will be as expensive a hobby as collecting luxury sports cars. lol

I would like to hope that other mass retailers like Walmart Canada or Zellers will carry the line at a reasonable price...but somehow I doubt they will.

I found these today at TRU in Oakville, I had Superman in my hands and then promptly returned him to the shelf when I discovered the price was F-ing 25.99. That's honestly a disgusting mark-up.

I can grab loose figures off eBay for MUCH cheaper than that.

Cheers!

*whew* That's a relief to hear. While that's still a bit expensive, at least I can afford to buy one or two figures at a time at that price.

I don't mind if the red one is more readily available as I'd prefer to get that one out of nostalgia for the Super Powers line. :)

It seems that may be the case. I k of of the 30 odd cases the Silver Snail got, it was a 50/50 split green/red. Doesn't seem like TRU is getting the same numbers. No variant Deadmans either to my knowledge, though tons got them in their Matty cases, and it was supposed to be a retailer exclusive.

Well, TRU Canada is getting the regular retail case assortment that has only 1 Steppenwolf per case. The variant is suppose to be packed randomly; I have no idea why it is only the Super Power version here. I believe Silver Snail orders solid single cases assortments (10 figures of one character) that are made available specialty stores only. For Steppenwolf solid cases, they are packed 50/50.

Quantum
01-12-2010, 08:09 PM
The cases Silver Snail got were full assortment cases. They found them as they opened all the cases, not when they opened the Steppenwolf case. I know many online retailers go the solid cases, but that's not true of he Silver Snail. Or at least not for wave 11.

Meh, I say the Super Powers varient is still the better Steppenwolf to get. :D
