Well, after a mere four years on the market, Hasbro's Star Wars Comic 2-packs are reportidly coming to an end in 2010.
It truly is a shame these won't be lasting longer, but the fact of the matter is that, although the series gave us such awesome sets as:
Boba Fett & RA-7 (2007)
Fenn Shysa & Dengar (2008)
Kyle Katarn & Yuzzhan Vong (2009)
As a whole, the series was disappointing and has the likes of Koffi Arana & Boltar Swan and Anakin & Durge simply warm pegs for months. Thus, Hasbro has decided to pull the plug, but not without one final go! Here are some of the first loose pictures of Hasbro's final 5 mass retail comic packs!
Enjoy!! :D
NOTE: These are the final mass retail comic packs. Two exclusives will be released at Comic Con this year in San Diego and Hasbro is in talks with the likes of online retailers like Entertainment Earth to possibly have a few more released exclusively through online retailers before the line jumps to hyperspace some time this year. ;)

Well, it's official!!! 4 more comic packs are also planned for release, this time through online retailer Entertainment Earth, the same retailer who gave us the Joker Squad, Delta Squad and Elite Forces of the Republic sets respectively!
Set for release in November 2010, the 4 four sets include: Darth Nihl and Deliah Blue (from Legacy), Jarael and Rohlan Dyre (from Knight of the Old Republic), the never-before-seen Baron Fel and Ysanne Isard (from X-Wing Rogue Squadron), and still-not-seen Jaster Mereel and Montross (from Jango Fett: Open Seasons) and are now available for pre-order at Entertainment Earth for a price of $17.99 each!

That is a great tie in set for Luke Skywalker and the Shadows of Mindor.;)

^^ Agreed! Thought that especially when I saw the Blackhole hologram.
I should be getting some pics of the SDCC exclusive comic 2-packs in a day or so, so stay tuned everyone! ;)

Well they came a little earlier than I thought, but here they are, the Exclusive Comic 2-packs for 2010!
The first will be an exclusive at this year's 2010 Comic Con and will feature Owen Lars and a half cyborg Darth Maul packaged with a reprint of Dark Horse's Star Wars: Visionary comic.
The second, which I had originally thought was also going to be avilable at Comic Con, will actually be avilable in August at Celebration V and will feature Camie and Fixer and a reprint of Star Wars: Empire #8. Interestingly, Camie and Fixer were supposed to appear originally in a cut scene from A New Hope where you find out a bit more about Luke's life growing up on Tatoonie.

Yep, seen them many times.
To be honest, neither of these two exclusives are really doing it for me, I have no desire to add a half mechanical Darth Maul to my collection and, while the Camie and Fixer set is both interesting and intriguing all at the same time, I'd rather grab some of the sets being released through Entertainment Earth first and foremost, especially the planned Jester Mareel and Mantros set! :D

One thought on the Fixer pack would be to pick it up and get Anthony Forrest to sign it. He does a lot of convention appearances in the Toronto area.

This is true and was actually one of the reasons I was thinking of, at some point, picking the set up. Like I said, while the Maul / Lars pack is just meh to me, the Camie / Fixer set is at least both interesting and intriguing. :D

Check it out everyone! We have our first picture of the Jaster Mereel and Montross comic 2-pack being released this November through online retailer Entertainment Earth!!!
The sculpts and paint look phenomenal! I am especially impressed with young Montross, Hasbro did an amazing job taking a few years off the look of this Mando'a when we last saw him in the Star Wars: Bounty Hunter game from 2003.
Can't wait to get my hands on this bad boy! :D

More pics of the SDCC Exclusive Visionaries Comic 2-pack featuring Darth Maul and Owen Lars...
According to the write-up for this comic, Maul returns from the dead to hunt down Obi-Wan Kenobi, the Jedi who destroyed his life and the Lars homestead becomes a battle ground for the forces of good and evil when Owen is forced to pit himself against the Sith Lord in an effort to protect his young nephew, Luke Skywalker.
Now that is one kick-ass write up! :D

^^ Tell me about it! Never shopped with EE before, but considering it'll cost $40 USD to ship one set of these to my place in Ontario, I may wait until they start popping up on eBay. I want the set BADLY, but $40 for a set that would cost half that at retail, is too steep for me, Mandalorians or not.
