The Marvel Universe 35th Anniversary Giant Size X-Men Box Set has hit Canadian retail. Regularly priced at $44.99, but on sale for $35.99 thanks to the current Marvel toy sale, this highly anticipated set was found at a Toys R Us store in British Columbia by AFN member pandaprime. Figures in this set consist of Nightcrawler, Cyclops, Storm, Wolverine, Colossus and Thunderbird.

Find out if this set is being found in your area in our Canadian Action Figure Sightings Forum (http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=19).

It's the 35th Anniversary of Giant Sized X-Men #1, the debut of these characters as X-Men and the first appearance of most of them.

Cool, though $36 for Storm is a bit much :p. Actually, I'm kind of interested in the Wolverine, he sort of looks like the Jim Lee design. He would go well with Jim Lee Cyclops and Jean Grey.

Looks like I gotta stop by TRU this week to get a look of this set.

Any sightings in Toronto? I'm on the hunt today :P

Yeah, I initially said this was going to be a pass for me, but now that I see the price, it's a little appealing. I'll have to take a look in person to see how good these toys are. however, I am going to Portland later this month, so I might hold out to see if I can't find it in the US.

No sign of these in Toronto yet. I had a TRU employee check the computers and so far these packs have not arrived anywhere in Ontario or Quebec. He said they will likely show up in the next 2 weeks.

So much for getting them on sale. Oh well.

I'm sure we will get another sale soon. I don't see those 6 packs selling out fast, especially at the 44.99 price tag

I noticed that the ones on eBay have the normal Nightcrawler, and the ones we got here in Vancouver have the "Bamfing" Nightcrawler. I guess there are two versions out there?

I think these were released early by accident here in Vancouver. I've checked a couple other TRUs and nothing, but the one location. I have a feeling these were meant to be released after the 20% off sale, since I haven't ever seen new product revealed during a sale like that. I could be wrong (someone correct me if I am). I think these will be more widespread in the next week after the sale...

Nice find pud333! Yes, there are 2 versions. It looks like your TRU got in the variant packs! That's so cool! :D

I agree. The other TRUs that I have been to didn't have these either. :(

I agree that it must be an error - usually with the SW exclusives, TRU does let them linger around at full price for a few weeks and then puts them out on sale eventually.

That way, they obviously maximize their profit by sucking in the early collectors who don't want to risk losing out on the item in case it sells out.... hey, that strategy has worked on me a few times!

Is Storm a variant as well? I notice that she has the white shades on her outfit (comic style), I recall seeing one where it was just straight up black.

Yes. The other boxed set, the one without the variant Nightcrawler, has Storm with all black and no white.

I couldn't find the normal version. There was only the transparent one. Or is that the normal version. I grabbed two

Yeah, sale is over :(

I don't know which one is the normal version, but what I do know is that Americans are saying they only got the regular one. We got the transparent one. Which means? I have no idea. but the transparent one is more coveted by Americans right now since they don't have any right now. You might be able to sell one on ebay or something. Make some money :)

variant ftw!?

The one we got has the translucent Nightcrawler with the Storm painted with the white accents. The other boxed set has the regular Nightcrawler, with Storm painted without the white accents - just black.

Ugh. That is the exact opposite of what I hoped to see... would rather that we got the "plain" regular one than the BAMF version... Hasbro seems to have a habit of doing this with MarvelU all the time. I heard similar stories from other collectors that the US gets one variant, then Canada gets the other version... making life hard on both sides of the border! Stupid!

Yeah the box on the back says Hasbro Canada. Maybe that means something?

And saw some on Ebay for $100 yikes

I think Hasbro has gone overboard with all the variants and running changes in the line. Variants used to be this fun thing collectors could hunt for and brag about once they find one. Now it's nearly every wave and it 1) trivializes variants and 2) gets old very quick.

^ your right. and the us version do say Hasbro USA with a different address then ours

It appears the someone in the Toronto area is hitting up all the TRU's and buying 5 or more at a time. That makes it tough for the rest of us!

Yeah. I've been to 4 toys r us. Only one had them. I thought maybe they just haven't put them out but if that's the issue..funny. I see some on ebay for $100. Wonder if people are really buying them for that much

I was at the TRU at Cedarbrae today and they had about four or five of the variant version in stock. This was at 10 am.

It's at Markham & Lawrence in Scarborough.
