With the Halloween Season in mind I started thinking about what some of my favorite Horror genre films and TV series are.
What brought this on? Today I was watching Silver Bullet, starring the greatest actor of our generation, Mr. Gary Busey.:)
Silver Bullet made me think back to the late 80's when I watched a series named "Werewolf" on Sunday nights. Now I totally want to get that series on DVD.
Check out a Werewolf Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=576x_HlwPvQ) right here.
A great Horror series that was really ahead of its time in terms of writing and plot. Even the visual effects were fairly decent considering that it was the late 1980's. They did a lot with smoke and shadows.
So whats your favorite?

I used to love the TV show American Gothic back when i was younger, I dont actually remember if it was any good but i remember thinking it was.
I also started watching that new show An American Horror Story. Wow that show is insanely good and scary, I watched the first 3 episodes and felt my mind totally twist out of shape. It plays on all your emotions and senses, its a creepy show and i definately recommend it to anyone who likes those type of movies/shows.
One of my favorite scary movies of all time is The Orphanage, its done in spanish (i believe) but its produced by Guillermo Del Toro. Very creepy and plays with your mind.
If your looking for a complete destruction of your emotions watch Antichrist with Willem Dafoe, goodness so insanely twisted. Dont think i could ever watch it again.
For generic Horror movies i really like Excorcist: The Beginning. Probably my favorite Horror movie.

Silver Bullet was scary as shit back in the day. I remember I watched it at a friend's place. I lived about five minutes away, and I remember running the whole way, scared out of my mind. This was in the middle of the day.
Anyway, favorite? That's a tough call. There are so many to chose from. The horror genre is my absolute favorite. I am almost always satisfied, mostly because I never have any expectations for horror films.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre (original). This was messed up. Maybe by today's standards it is tame, but there's a snuff film quality to it that is really disturbing.
The entire Friday 13th series. This is just a great classic series. My friend and I used to do horror marathons, and one weekend we watched the entire series back to back to back to back... With slasher films, my friends and I like to play the "who gets the goriest death" game, where you each get to chose a character other than the main character, and the hope is your character gets the goriest death. Winner is chosen by the very scientific method of loudest "Oooooohhhh shiiiiiit!"
John Carpenter's The Thing. 'Nuff said.
Some more modern favorites:
Splinter. Reminds me a lot of The Thing. About a couple who get kidnapped by another couple. They end up at a gas station and realize something is after them. Lots of fun.
Cabin Fever. This was totally silly, but I enjoyed it a lot. You laugh a lot. Mostly unintentionally I think.
The Descent. About a group of women who go spelunking and they end up running into cave creatures and have to fight their way out. Flat out, in my top 5 of all time. Gotta watch the UK version with the real ending. The American release saw the last bit cut out for some stupid reason. People found it too confusing or too depressing or whatever. I think it's perfectly clear, but that's us stupid North Americans for you.
Wolf Creek. Aussie film that's kinda fun, but cruel sometimes. I tend not to think the cruel films (torture porn) are good, but this was one of the better ones.
I also recommend Antichrist. That was one messed up movie.
I could go on and on and on...

I know they're seriously ancient, but I love the Creature from the Black Lagoon films the best! :D

I agree with this one, I was totally surprised (and screaming). Saw the UK ending first time through, it was tragic, but it kinda made the movie come full circle. Haha, did you know they're making a third? Sequel, was okay, though it didn't really add too much.
Orphan, this one was pretty creepy. It certainly makes you think.
Insidious, haha, I was screaming quite a few times. Though it I thought it went down hill after they gave the explanation (the why), it still gave me troubles going to sleep after seeing it.
Probably more, but those are the ones that come to mind right away.

I didn't know they were making a third. At any rate, I can't even remember the second one, even though I did watch it, which shows how forgettable that one was. The first movie rocked though. Pleasant surprise.
What was also a surprise was Orphan. My problem with movies with evil kids is that I keep thinking, "They're like three feet tall. Kick them in the face!"
I just finished watching Wrong Turn 4. Yeah, I've seen all of these, and they get progressively worse each time around. However, this one did have a scene where the bad guys ate a dude by dipping pieces of his skin in oil like fondue, so there's that. Still pretty bad. I've seen so many bad horror movies, like Killer clowns from outer space. It is basically exactly like it sounds.

I just watched Insidious last night, pretty good movie, gave me the creeps. I do agree with it being a little cheezy when they find out the reasons, but i thought it was pretty original and I do love the way the did it. I had to watch something funny afterwards so i didnt have messed up dreams lol.
