I quite like this article, it's the first one I saw that isn't just saying it's over, rather it suggests other possibilities than just folding, and also includes the more optimistic Canadian side of things.

Toys ‘R’ Us in talks to sell Canadian business as it closes U.S. stores

The statement came a day after California-based toy company MGA Entertainment confirmed its CEO Isaac Larian and affiliated investors have made a bid for the Toys "R" Us Canada operations.

"Toys 'R' Us Canada is a good business," Larian said in a statement. "They run it efficiently, and have good leadership. At the right price, it makes economical sense."

Sale of Canadian Toys 'R' Us outlets to Fairfax Financial approved
Fairfax was only bidder for company's Canadian outlets.

A U.S. bankruptcy judge has approved the sale of the Canadian operations of Toys "R" Us to Toronto-based Fairfax Financial Holdings Ltd.

At a hearing Tuesday in Richmond, Va., Judge Keith Phillips gave his consent to the $300-million sale.

Fairfax was the only bidder at an auction held Monday in New York City for the 82 Canadian outlets of the toy retailer. The Canadian outlets have stayed open even as the company moved to shut down its operations in the U.S. and the U.K.

Re: Toys-R-Us

Great news but I still wonder how it will be affected from going from a 1000+ stores to only 82. I can see prices rising but then they'd get killed by Walmart. Hope they start going with other brands and not just the Hasbro and Mattel lines. The Corps,Chap Mei's Soldier Force, and Power Team lines would be great.

Re: Toys-R-Us

The closure of the US business should have little impact. It may actually lead to healthier operations, as the profitable Canadian division had to support the struggling US business.

I'm hoping only managing 82 stores leads to better/quicker distribution of product.
