Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

Since I figured we have a DC one, its time for Marvel.

With Captain America and Thor coming out next year, I think its time to have a board for updates.

Once cool thing I found on www.comicbookmovie.com was someone made a mock up Avengers poster

Has anybody read the deadpool script? it was leaked

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

i tried looking for the script, but the reviews have said that its a great translation from the comics to the movie.

The script included the wit, 4th wall aspects of Deadpool. So I'm really excited to see this film, if/when it does get filmed.

Damn you Reynolds for becoming GL

pattycakeman 11-25-2010 04:04 PM

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

Just because Reynolds is GL doesnt mean he cant be Deadpool.. he was already deadpool and remember he was already a member of the nightstalkers in Blade another marvel movie.. Chris Evans is even Captain America after being Human Troch.. Reynolds even still talks about his desire to play deadpool.. Hopefully he will play him i cant think of anyone else who has the wit to play him properly.

On another note.. im super excited for Thor and Captain America, love what I've seen so far from both!

CTO15 11-25-2010 08:15 PM

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

i know that Reynolds isn't locked to just GL, I'm just saying that there will probably be a GL trilogy, and it'll be interesting to see when he'll do Deadpool.

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

Remember. He's an actor. It's a job. I don't really care if he is deadpool green lantern or a part of nightstalker. I'm excited for both movies. Just like how chris is human torch and Cap. Doesn't matter cause they are not doing anymore/rebooting Fantastic four ( thank god )

How awesome would a Winter solider movie be?
http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=17749

Black widow could be in it. They could make it quite easy i think.
The story line already sounds like a movie.
sidekick dies. Comes back as winter solider. blah blah blah :)
Right now they have this dude as bucky
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1659221/

I have not really seen him in anything that sticks out. expect Gossip girl. Which was stupid

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

I have high hopes for Avengers. Ghost Rider 2 I'm kind of on the fence about, but it sounds promising. Not unlike Punisher War Zone and Incredible Hulk where the movie almost seems to fit with the last one, but not quite. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with.

I see this as a positive thing. I felt IM was very underwhelming and IM2 was worse. I thought the action sequences were incredibly poorly shot and cut and really looked like a TV movie or something. Favreau doesn't know how to shoot action, IMO.

That being said, I am on a general downward trend with MU films. X-men 3, Wolverine, Spider-man 3, Hulk, both IM films - I found they were all very lacking or just outright sucked. This is why I don't have high hopes for the Avengers movie. I admit, I got a kick out of seeing the footage from comiccon or wherever, where all the actors got up on stage together, but with Thor looking bad as well, I am not very excited.

Sorry to be a downer on this, but I really think there needs to be a director or creative team that takes some risks with the Marvel properties. The only upcoming MU film I am even remotely interested in is the X-men first class. I think it has a good cast (especially Magneto. I really like the actor that plays him) and Vaughn is a good director too. (Layercake was excellent).

Evan 12-20-2010 01:01 AM

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

I have to disagree on the Iron Man films. Loved them. IM1 especially. I agree that the rest of the films you mention do seem to be lacking, some more than others, but I've still enjoyed them. I'm reserving judgement until I see Thor, but really looking forward to Avengers. As far as Favreau leaving IM, I'm disappointed, but it may be good from a creative stand point to get a fresh take in there, especially since it will be released after Avengers which I suspect will be the foundation of future MU films...unless it sucks.

Hantei 12-21-2010 11:24 PM

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

I'm a soundtrack/score fan and the thing that's been bugging me with the MU films is that lack of a memorable score or theme. Not like the DC films where both Batman (loved the Batman Forever theme) and Superman have had an identifiable theme. Spider-Man takes exception to this, but I hate his.

Iron Man had an okay score and established theme, though unfortunately for IM2 they ditched the theme and the score seemed almost non-existent. I thought one of the best scores was the Incredible Hulk; it was memorable (for me anyway), had a theme, and wasn't ever drowned out by the sound effects. It was actually a movie I really enjoyed and rather disappointed that I didn't see theatres (not sure how this one fell under my radar).

Anyway, looking forward to the new movies and I'm really hoping they all deliver a memorable soundtrack. Both the Captain America and Avengers movies NEED a good catchy/memorable theme! Thor, meh, not a big deal to me.

I really like the Avengers theme for the current cartoon show. It gets stuck in my head for days at a time. If that was adapted to the upcoming movie, I think it'd be great. Might make sense for marketing purposes as well. I honestly don't see it happening, but if it did, I'd be okay with it.

I'm not really a fan of the Cartoon Avengers theme. Sounds to pre-teen Sum 41ish that I don't think will appeal to a mass audience.

I think it is still very popular, but it has its share of detractors too. With rising prices, some other negatives: the articulation is limited to certain numbers when it should not be, there are still issues QC here and there, re-use mold that Shin mentioned, paint applications and incompatible Of course, the character selection.

I wasn't a big fan of the AEMH's theme song at first either, but it's really grown on me. I actually have the same problem of it getting stuck in my head sometimes, haha, eventually I just made a rip and dumped it into my phone.

In relation to subject on a TV show theme appearing in the movie. When X-Men came out I was so hoping to hear the awesome 90s cartoon theme play, haha, unfortunately it never happened. Same deal with the 90s Spider-Man show with the sweet Joe Perry theme and the SM movie.

Re: Marvel Universe Movie Discussion

Hmm, Spidey's outfit looks interesting. I like how they dropped the embossed webbing from the Raimi movies, it never looked homemade in that series. Inked webbing lines on the outfit, like it. Maybe they're going with the Ultimate route where he's given an outfit after a match. Can't wait to see what the mask is like! BTW the bulges on his wrists, are those web-shooters?!?

http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/9537/webshooters.png

Cap's outfit looks pretty good, but I kinda hope they revise the mask for the cowl with protruding wings (instead of painted ones) for the Avengers movie. Are the soldiers in the back supposed to be Hydra soldiers? Reminds me of vipers from GI Joe....

Side view of the new Spidey suit with mask! The eyes seem a little smaller than I was expecting, and those are definitely some sort of web shooter device on his wrists (I'll assuming the small disc is where the fluid goes). Not sure about the costume itself, as it deviates from the classic design, I don't hate it but not too crazy about either (I'm assuming the slippers he's wearing are for stunt purposes). I'll probably get used to it once more promotional stuff for movie is released. Heh, and there's always the possibility that it'll get redesigned to the classic look in the sequels if the fan backlash is high.

Hmm, I'm thinking it'll probably be Maria Hill. As Jackson mentioned in the interview that the character will be his second in command.

Josh Whedon is directing the Avengers right? I think Morena Baccarin will probably have the edge, she kinda looks like Maria Hill. Mary Elizabeth Winstead could be a good Wasp, if that was the character in question. Kinda reminds me of the younger Wasp from AEMH. Cobie Smulders, I enjoy HIMYM, but not sure if I'll be able to get "Robin Sparkles" out of my head if she gets casted, heh.

Wow, Jessica Lucas has great... assets..., haha. Imagine if the role was Wasp and she got casted. It'll probably be like the Heimdall thing all over again.

Doesn't really matter who they cast to me, whoever they go with I'll sure it'll be great!

Cap looks really good! But the scrawny body looks weird, Chris Evan's head appears too big. Wasn't expecting them to show Red Skull in the tv spot!

Thor, was Portman/Foster's line "god, I hope you're not crazy" supposed to be a throwback to the Ultimate Thor?

And Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill, eh? Haha, I'm curious about this one, don't think Hill was ever one to joke around quite different from Robin Sparkles. Should be interesting!

Haha, actually I really like the last bit of the spot for Transformers. Nice to see Optimus didn't ditch Jetstorm's parts. I'm assuming that his trailer transforms into the jet parts.
