Looking for Customizing Advice/Guidance

Hi all,

I managed to pick up a second Boss and Fixer GH two pack. Now I want to try to kit them out in Sev and Scorch colours. What type of paint would you think work best on GH? Any help would be welcome.

Thanks.

Testor model paints are and excellent cheap way to start. The model master is a little more money, but it's hard to tell why they are better. Maybe they work better in an airbrush. A light coat of primer could help too. Krylon spray paints for plastic from walmart are quite good if you have removed the original paint apps. Just not to thick as you can lose some of the detail.

I hope that helps.

That last link was awesome.

Here's what I want to do:

Original Boss and Fixer

I want to change them to:

Sev

Scorch

Yeah then use brush on acrylics.
Avoid any enamels and spray paint as it will not dry on softer plastics used on Star Wars(and GI Joe) figures

The easiest way to start is to go to a games workshop. They have the right brushes and paints but all the paints are matt finish and a little pricey. If there is a place that sells gundams near you then I would recommend Tamiya paints, they are an acrylic but you can get gloss and s/g colours. The hardest part will be to make the orange parts on boss white. Try a white primer from G.M. or Tamiya. Do several light coats until you get white, patients is the key here. It might be easier to wait until they release Sev and Scorch eventually and work on an alpha squad instead.

hope this helps,
ehko

Does the boil and pop method work for decapitating DCUC figures as well as it does for the 3.75 lines?

I'd highly recommend either Tamiya (for base coating), or Vallejo paints (for detailed work, dry brushing, etc.). Both are very durable, and Vallejo produces a brush-on Matte and Glossy sealant/varnish. Both work really well.

Also, Tamiya produces a line of sprays - they're small cans, and are about $5 per (you get less than with Krylon), but they adhere alot better, as they're designed for work with hobbists/plastic.

You can find either at most hobby stores.

Cheers,
