Is it just me or is 2014 a bad year for action figures?

I haven't seen or bought any new figures in like 3 months. I collect DC and marvel things.

I shop at walmart, target, tru and at my local comicbook store who haven't had much since last year.

I pre ordered the galaxy figures last month from online and still haven't gotten it yet. They were suppose to be released in June then got moved up to July.

After having a great year in 2013. 2014 is close to worst.

Anyone else having a bad year finding anything?

well this year (2014) so far I saw a good number of the marvel 6" infinite legends
-green goblin series (spiderman)
-mandroid series (captain america)
-jubilee series (x-men)

also the classic x-men box set at TRU

and marvel 3.75" infinite figures wave 1

and a few marvel select figures at Disney stores

almost 6" DC Total Heroes wave 1 and 2?

and the 4" DC Multiverse Heroes wave 1 and 2?

seems like quite a bit....

And also some cool Kickstarter projects with Marauder Inc. and Boss Fight Studio's efforts. Not mainstream retail I realize, but still pretty cool.

It hasn't been great for me in terms of things being produced Star Wars wise that I want.

Outside of Star Wars Black(6 inch plus a couple 4 inch like Mara & Plagueis) it has been a very down year. We have gone from 10-12 assortments of fully articulated Star Wars figures in a year to 3?(maybe only two).

On the up side stuff like Rinox, Whirl, Waspinator, Skids, coming soon Rattrap and the like have been awesome.

I think 2014 is tougher in the fact that I am not buying figures from target, walmart and toysrus. Those stores have been downsizing their boy toy aisles. I am having to rely strictly on comic stores and online. Also a lack of stuff I normally collect has caused me to shop other lines/toys I had minimal interest in before.
I think to some extent, I feel the same way as you ;)

I agree its been a slow year so far. Probably the worst in over 20 years of collecting. I'm hoping the new 50th Joes will make it a little better once they come out but even those are mostly reissues. Just walk into a TRU and look at the Star Wars section...worst its been since they restarted in 1995. Transformers seems to be the only thing they stock well.

Still hoping more will be out by Christmas time but there doesn't even seem to be a lot coming out. I just look at it as a time to pick up stuff I missed when it first came out. If Walmart and TRU don't want our money there's always Ebay and online stores.

It's a great year for Marvel fans. Sucks to be with DC. Mattel has been making crap. DC Collectibles are making some good figures and statues but they are starting to dig their own grave again. DC Direct went down because they start to release multiple versions of the same character, mostly Superman and Batman, Joker, etc. Now they are starting to do the same. We've got multiple Batmen,Batgirl, Nightwing,etc....

I bought a few Marvel Select this year. The huge Savage Hulk, Unmasked stealth suit Captain America.

I got both legends for spidy and cap. picked up only 3 for the infinite (hyperion, hulk, grim reaper). I have not seen any Wasps at my stores.

DC heroes only picked up sinistro the rest looks dull.
Dc multiverse only mr. freeze I had only picked him up since he looked cool and the prices for the rest of the figures are so high for okay figures...

I got movie cap and spider-man from disney.

To me compared to other years this isn't a lot.

So far, 2014 has been a major improvement from previous years. My favourite collectibles, Transformers (specifically Generations 30th) and Marvel Legends (specifically ML Infinite), are more readily available this year then they've been in 2013 in the Greater Toronto Area. In addition, being able to pre-order on TRU.ca has helped in terms of toy hunting (specifically with MP Grimlock).

Even though I don't typically collect TMNT, I've made an exception with the recent 'classics' cartoon.

Star Wars Black Series look great but I have to limit myself, lol...

A lot of good stuff coming out in Fall 2014 and early 2015.

When is that bloody Gen30th Rattrap going to finally show up? Damn, he looks good.
