Umm, Phantom Menace and Vintage don't belong in the same sentence.

So, there is a Vintage line and a Movie line with the same main characters in them. Nice double dipping Hasbro! I thought repackaging the same SWTF Quad Changer was nervy ;)

I think these are new sculpts but I could be wrong. Most definitly the Pod Racers and Naboo Guard are all new figures.

Re: The Phantom Menace Vintage Collection Figures Released in Canada
I got the following figs @ TRU London last night:
Amidala
Ratts Tyrell & Pit Droid
Daultay Dofine
Naboo Royal Guard
I also got the Republic Clone Troopers battle pack. They had the Rebel Heroes and Geonosis Arena Battle battle packs as well but I didn't want them.
They had the four reboxed Class II vehicles on shelf as well:
Sith Interceptor
AAT Trade Federation Tank
Sebulba's Pod Racer
Anakin Skywalker's Pod Racer
The four of those looked like straight repacks so I didn't splurge on any of them.

Daul Maul, Qui Gon, and Obi Wan are my must haves! Too bad the 2 Jedis don't have ball-hinged hips, they'd be the perfect versions to have. I'm actually rather surprised that both don't come with their lightsaber hilt, I thought that was standard issued for SW figures now.

This has been a topic of discussion amoungst Star Wars collectors since they started doing the G.I.Joe hips on some of the figures.
To me its throws the visual appearance of the toy off giving it something of a diaper like appearance. The trade off of course being that the ball joint hips are more posable.
While ball jointed hips don't stop me from buying a figure they don't look like they fit in with the rest of my collection when displayed.
Thus my TCW's Mandalorians get their own special shelf so they don't look as silly(to me) when posed alongside their other Mandalorian counterparts with the more sculpted, less posable, mid sections.

Re: The Phantom Menace Vintage Collection Figures Released in Canada
Hasbro can do BJ hips without affecting the aesthetics (e.g. RotJ TVC Jedi Luke) but yeah, so far their track record with them hasn't been great. More failures than successes, eventually they'll perfect it. Probably not until RotS3d though! They always milk a sculpt for as long as they can before releasing a new version that upgrades it big enough that we all have to rebuy it again.

Re: The Phantom Menace Vintage Collection Figures Released in Canada
I did ultimately go back and get the AAT. It is in fact not a repack but a repaint and an updated mold.
For the first time the cockpit doesn't have the stupid flipping good/dead droid, there's an actual seat for a figure in there now.
The paint at first glance looks like two previous versions, but it's yet another full variant deco. That brings me up to 7 obvious variants on the AAT on my shelves.

Hmm, I dunno, I think Hasbro have been doing a good job incorporating ball-hinged hips. Eg. Bespin Luke and Jedi Luke. It would be nice to get them on the prequel Jedis, since their robes can hide it anyway.
Ahh, and a sale can't come soon enough. $10.99 at TRU is a rip off!

So true. However, if I do see Darth Maul, I'll buy him even at $10.99 and just hope that there is a SW sale within the 14 day price adjustment period. :p I've always wanted a more articulated version of him so I'll take the chance.

Re: The Phantom Menace Vintage Collection Figures Released in Canada
The articulation on the new Maul is terrible. I can't believe that passes for a "poseable" figure. That purchase was the last one I'll make from the star wars toyline until they start using proper elbows and knees.

I saw these today. They were nice and I love the card art, but I'm more of a G.I. Joe fan so I passed.
