Custom Toy designer table at Toy Expo this year?

Hi everyone,

I'm curious if there's ever been a table or area where artists sold custom action figures at the Toy Expo in previous years.

I'm waiting for some information in table pricing/interest from the Expo organizers - but I'd like to set up a table display like I did at FanExpo 2009 to sell my custom action figures.

I've been customizing for about 3 years, and primarily do commissioned work. However, I do sell some figures that I've made for myself. I think it would be a great experience to attend this years Toy Expo as a seller, rather than a customer.

I'd be interested in people thoughts on this, and custom toys. :)

Cheers,
-Blayne

I'm actually surprised there hasn't been tables doing this in the past, seems like a good idea.

Hmm to tell you the truth. As cool as custom figures are. I like to look at them and what not. But they tend to be a bit much price wise. But at Fan Expo there has to be people willing to spend there money on custom figures. I would love to see tables like that

True, but the same goes for a pair of pants or jacket made by a tailor vs. one you buy at Walmart, or a painting you buy from an artist vs. a print from Michael's Craft Store:

The amount of time/money that goes into custom figures is usually substantial.

That said, I had many figures priced between $20-$60 at both FanExpo, WizardWorld Comicon, and the Burleington Toy Convention. They're just pieces that didn't have as much modification or work done to them.

I'm happy I attended a few con's this year. The response from people (and buyers) was really positive, - particularly at WizardWorld this past April. I did a few interviews there, too:

Thanks, I'm glad it turned out so well. I did another with a TV station from Peterborough, (CHEX I think) but I don't know if they archive their footage online or not.

When I'm back in Canada next, I might have the opportunity to be on Electric Playground - if I hadn't had to fly out to Korea for work in April, they would have done a segment on my custom figure business + my work studio. :)

Cheers,
-Blayne
