McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse toyline

https://mcfarlane.com/news/mcfarlane...cs-multiverse/

Let the conversation begin!

It's different than what Mattel has offered. They all look like brand new sculpts. They are 7 inch scale, which is bigger than what we have before and closer to what DC Collectibles have offered.

EB Games currently have them up for pre-order. I'm hoping this line does well enough that we will see lots of live action characters. Love to see a 7" Catwoman and Batman from Batman Returns. CW Captain Cold, most of the Legends of Tomorrow characters.

The 7 inch scale kills the line for me. I like all my figures to scale regardless of brand. Can’t have random Batman towering over my Marvel Legends and Star Wars Black Series figures. If they turn out a tad smaller I might grab the odd figure here or there, but honestly not looking forward to another line with 3 Batman and 3 Superman figures in every wave. I feel like the wave right out of the gate should have had far more variety in it.

They probably have to make some money first with the first wave that’s why it’s Superman and Batman heavy. Collectors will obviously want variety, myself included, but the casual buyer will see a Batman and Superman sitting on the shelf and will be more likely to buy it. I full expect more variety in upcoming waves.

I expect there to be at least 1 Batman per wave though which is fine. I can never have enough Batman in my collection. Can’t wait for my order from canucktibles!!

Yeah, that got me worried too. There's a not a good balance of villains.

Well count me in as interested and optimistic. McFarlane has done a great job with the Harry Potter and Fortnite figs and I think they've earned a place in my collection.

I’m right there with you Alexander. I’ve invested too much $$$ in my 6 inch scale collection to start over in a new scale. I’m actually happy about this, as it allows me an out to slow down my collecting days. I’ve pretty much run out of room anyway, plus I’m content with my DCUC/Multiverse collection, that I’ll probably just cherry-pick any MacFarlane figures I think I can fudge into my existing collection. There’s got to be a few oversized characters that I can squeeze in. For instance, I had been hoping for a DCUC Girder figure to add to my Flash’s Rogues Gallery. Hopefully a MacFarlane one (if ever made) could work. Basically what I’ve been doing with a few Marvel Select figures and my Marvel Legends collection...
I do hope at some point down the line that MacFarlane Batmobile or a similar one can see a regular release at some point instead of as a BAF. I’d buy that regardless of any scale issues it may cause with my existing collection

Anyway, I happy for those of you who wanted 7 inch figures and hope you all get the characters you’re interested in. :)

Got Harley Animated today at EB. Very cool figure. Couple of minor paint issues (one on the back leg where it touched the plastic). The red joints being a slightly different red from the other plastic is a bit too noticeable to me.

The scale doesn't bother me much as I am more choosy now getting figures I want instead of a whole wave and 4 or 40 more Batmans. :)

Re: McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse toyline

Picked up Action Comics Supes. Great figure. As some video reviewers have mentioned, he only has single jointed elbows, his thighs are a bit skinny from the front and he comes with only 1 fisted hand. Other than that I am well pleased with him. I'm waiting for more 80s inspired Batman to go along with him for sure. The joints are very sturdy and most of them are ratcheted. His ankle joints are very solid as well. If these scaled with ML, it would be near perfect for me.

Re: McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse toyline

I've always wanted to get a good looking Batman figure at least, but have been holding out for a true Legends-scaled one. I guess now with McFarlane taking over and going with the 7" scale, that's not gonna happen anytime soon.

BUT the figure quality in this line looks pretty nice so far, nice enough that I might consider picking up more than just the Detective Comics #1000 Batman (which is the style of Batman I prefer). The Animated figures in particular are enticing to me, as I have a soft spot for the DCAU, especially BTAS.

I have zero DC figures in my collection, so scale is a bit less of a concern to me. It'd be nice to have them all at 6" scale to stand beside my Legends and Black Series, but most likely I'll never mix the lines on a shelf anyways so it's not a deal breaker.

I also like that there are no BAFs in this line, which makes it much easier to just pick up the figures I want, and the price point isn't too bad either. If I do go after these, I'll hopefully try to stick to Batman-related characters, and maybe the Animated subline. Plus the odd "iconic look" figure of other DC characters like a good Superman, Wonder Woman, and a few more major JL characters.

The WW 1984 duo are out at EB Games.

I saw this one in store and passed because her face looked horrible. Did not see Golden Armor but that is also available according to their website.

The only figures currently I wanted from this line was the Batman Hellbat Armor and Superman Unchained Armor, both figures are extremely nice looking, So i purchased them, however I was highly disappointed when immediately after taking Hellbat out of its package the leg broke, not a good start

Did anyone else order the Arkham Asylum figures from Amazon? I preordered Batman but it seems like it won't be fulfilled again. Seemed to me they didn't even get stock, there's no way the Joker figure sold out immediately when it released a week ago.

Same issue here. I preordered it 3 weeks ago and it's supposed to arrive by Friday, but nothing has shipped yet. I also preordered it from EB Games, but they haven't shipped it either. Maybe there's a short for the Batman.

My Arkham Batman and Joker shipped late last week and are on track to be delivered tomorrow.

I also picked up Wonder Woman in the gold armour at EB. She looks amazing.

I pre-ordered both on May 8. Due to all the cancellation stories I've seen here recently, I figured the same would happen to me and was prepared to try elsewhere eventually. But they shipped on June 1 and are due to arrive June 8, so I guess I lucked out. It's possible they prioritized to people who ordered both? But who can really figure out Amazon's logic...

I ordered both Wonder Woman figures just 1 day before they released and they both arrived as well, so I can't really explain it.

So I just called Amazon about the Arkham Batman not shipping and their excuse was that it's currently backordered. Total bs, since I preordered it a month ago and that's around the time when the listing went up. Really tired of their empty promises. Can't depend on them for Marvel Legends, Power Rangers, Transformers and now these DC figures.

So far 90% ifmy Amazon.ca ordered.were fulfilled eventually.
Got my Power Rangers Trini.
I placed a preorder for the McFarlane DC toys.
Got both Wonder Women in first week of May as scheduled.
The Arkham Asylum figures were delayed.but still got them at the end of May.

I think Amazon takes more orders than they can fulfill. Amazon.com is amazing. Amazon.ca has a lot to catch up on. Less deals for one.

I posted about some $9 DC figures at WM here in AB yesterday. The Animated ones were $9 as well as a tag for Armor Supes and Batman but the store was OOS on those 2.

If you want to check possible locations, here is the UPC to try to see which WMs may have stock:

https://stocktrack.ca/?s=wm&upc=78792615501

That's for Animated Batman. I don't have the numbers for the Armored Batman or Supes.

I think they’re stuck on Batman stuff, which is fine but to replace DC Multiverse Mattel they need to step up their game.

The only figure I bought so far was Wonder Woman, and I got to say the figure is down right beautiful. The paint apps are spot on, the texture and sheen on the figure differ from skin to armour to skirt, the articulation is decent... but dang is it huge. She hulks over everything in my collection so I had to send her to the shelf for statues and busts. The 7+ inch scale kills it for me. If it weren’t for the size I would have grabbed Nightwing, Batgirl, a Batman, Joker, and Superman by now. But I just can’t. I don’t want a bunch of figures that tower over other characters that they should be blending in with.

Oh well. If it tanks maybe Hasbro will eventually get the license. I know monopolies are bad, but they do a damn fine job with Marvel Legends, producing both a plethora of figures for the most popular characters (a new Iron Man figure every 6 weeks, sure why not), while still giving plenty of other characters time to shine, (hello White Rabbit, and good day to you, Stepford Cuckoos).

Re: McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse toyline

The 7-inch scale doesn't bother me as much as the inconsistentcy between the figures themselves.

I think for their first wave they shot at a dartboard and that's how the came up with their 4-5 different looks (TAS, 1000, Armored duo, etc). For example, Nightwing is much taller than Batman and Batgirl. If whatever doesn't sell, drop it and change course...?

They also tried a dull gimmick out of the gates making a tiny 3-piece Batmobile but charging $5 extra per piece for it. The Raptor while decent for the $30 price and provides and actual vehicle for a 7-inch figure, doesn't mesh with non-Batman fans who don't see it as a Batmobile.

The WW84 figures are both excellent even if in her normal costume her leg color looks a bit off. The Gold one is already on my list for best figure at the halfway point. But some of her faces in-store looked poorly done compared to others. AA Joker looks excellent but I haven't opened him until I can see AA Batman beside him. I would buy a BOP HQ but it is nowhere to be found so will they bother to release it?

Next wave Azrael looks great but the Batman/Joker are from another story I never got around to reading.

Re: McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse toyline

Todd essentially said that they were going with the dartboard approach to start.

The only issue I've seen with the line is that they convinced Wal-Mart to buy more than they could sell.

Beyond that, reaction seems to be fairly positive and most other stores only have a small number of figures left hanging around.

Here in Barrie everywhere has massive overstock. Walmart and TRU are packed with them, and even EB has quite a few. I feel like TRU in particular has barely sold any; maybe 2 figures since they got them in.

We’ve got literally two of each of those stores here though, so it might just be an overflow of stock to a smaller collector base.

Re: McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse toyline

Retail chains always over-buy on first waves. At least most of the characters in it are fairly well-known and popular that they should hopefully get some of the non-collectors picking them up.

I don't think I've ever seen them go on sale anywhere yet though either (usually TRU is good about that)? So maybe some people are just waiting. I waited for a long time hoping to catch one but eventually caved in and bought them all at regular price (which I still felt was pretty fair).

Too many Superman, Batman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern and Harley Quinn clogging up the shelves because many collect 6 inch figures and not too many have jumped on 7 inch just yet. Wonder Woman is selling and the Batman who laughs seem to disappear off shelves faster

Well looks like the focus will fall on more Dark Knights Metal figures for a bit. Next round of pre-orders has Earth-1, Earth-32, Earth-44 and Grim Knight Batman. Makes sense I guess, it combines cool unique looks, a popular recent comic, and of course - Batman.

Yup, this has always been an issue, and unless a company has a strong specialty market presence, it can kill a line after a couple of waves.

Unfortunately, McFarlane does not have a good specialty market system. Which is ironic, since that was their lifeblood for years. Todd has always been obsessed with getting into Wal-Mart though.

I think American chains are A LOT quicker to clearance out the pegwarmers. You always hear about people finding figures on clearance there for dirt cheap (like $1), but that NEVER happens here.

American stores also have way more sales and much more generous sales than we do here. Every time you see something on clearance at walmart in canada it's like 10 cents off the normal price, whereas clearance there is like half the original price.

Passed until they hit the price of $24.99 at WM or TRU.
