I'm right with you on that one folks, in fact I've begun to notice that TRU does a lot more of this in recent years.
It used to be when they had a BOGO sale it included everything, or just about not sure if it included the clearance stuff. Now, it seems more and more like they are just TRYING to rip you off. Go in by one get one half off, but unsuspecting consumers which is about 95% of them will grab a ton of the 3.75'' figures along with all the rest and expect to be getting a deal with them too.
I mean look at the recent 30% off TFs, they excluded the Deluxes, the one thing in the store they have more of in stock than anything else. Why? So they can trick those customers who don't pay enough attention to the signage.
And Wal-Mart is no better, around this time last year they had month long rollbacks on Deluxe figures and the like, but now they take more and more time to stick stuff on sale/clearance to get rid of the product cluttering their shelves. It's like they
want to keep holding out for those few shoppers that will pay full retail prices in this world.
I just don't understand the mentality of the managers at these stores today, or the people higher up who decide what should be on sale.
Just yesterday and all of the time leading up to this week's deals RCSS had Star Wars 3.75'' figures at 4.97$ CND. By Tuesday when I came in they had nothing left practically from the weekend.
Now TRU is having a sale, but instead of getting a deal like at RCSS you're forced to pay full price for the expensive battle packs and junk and expect to get another one of those at half off. Forgive me for not falling for that, but I'd rather pay 50% off than full price for the expensive shit, and pay full price for 5 or 10 3.75'' figures I really want and get the other 5-10 at half price. Or mix and match, maybe buy one of the larger vehicles/battle packs and then pick up a figure for the half-off thing.
Anyway, forgive my ranting. It's just really frustrating me the way these sales are being organized now. Eventually when the thing you want to go on sale actually does, more than half the time it's already sold out at full price or scooped up in the first ten minutes of the store opening by scalpers or everybody else. *SIGH*
