Re: Hasbro Profits down 30% Last Quarter

Considering Toys are not a necessity, it's not surprising Hasbro's profits are down.

Hasbro has a lot riding on some big movies coming out in the summer like GI Joe and Transformers. They say entertainment is recession proof, so it will be interesting to see if Hasbro's sales do well should those movies do well at the boxoffice. I have no idea what the positive correlation is between a movie doing well during a recession and its toys line, but it should be interesting.

I already know that because of the tight times, I am buying less. Used to buy two of everything I bought, one to open, one for MOSC, but now I am way more picky. It's not that I can't really afford to, but it's more due to me wanting to buy a house, and also putting more money away into emergency savings. I'm in the banking industry, and I see every day people coming in with their various hardship stories. So many Canadians don't have emergency funds (3-6 months gross salary saved for emergencies). I'm just being extra careful, even though (knock on wood) my credit union is financially very strong despite the downturn.

Man, that was an essay.
