I find the bump codes don't work very well. From past experience, the same figure can have different codes depending on the figure batch.
I suggest using the massage technique. Most of the figures in the series have unique accessories so they are easy to feel for. The only ones that may be a problem is Milhouse and Ralph. They both have a square accessory so you have to feel for the head as well.
