Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series 6 inch discussion

It's interesting to me that they decided to release a Haslab preorder that coincides with a month's worth of weekly preorders... Can't help but wonder if that might not affect sales.

I'll just be honest. I hate how Hasbro does these things. Pre orders are of no interest too me, neither are figures not expected for over a year.

I'm just gonna keep pre ordering nothing while still getting everything I want. To me, with the odd exception, its all just overblown hype and hyperbole.

I hate it as well. I wish there were enough so that we didn't have to worry about missing out if we didn't preorder.
It's mainly because of the scalpers . I don't want to pay double the price of something that I was gonna get anyways.
I preordered Firefly. Not interested in repaints. Nunchuk, I'll take chances on him going on deep sale.

Hasbro has conditioned collectors to believe they will miss out if we don't pre order.

And in some cases it may be true, but most often it is not.

Look at the last few Amazon exclusives. Roadblock was easy, Kamakura and Blue Ninja's still available today. Will the Eel be an exception? Maybe, but I kinda doubt it.

Amazon also has pretty much every mainline figure from the past few waves available right now for regular price. So are the mainline figures like Snow Serpent going to be different? I doubt it.

Just my per peeve

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series 6 inch discussion

It almost makes me just want a subscription service again, like in the bad old days with Mattycollector and Digital River.

I dislike that all the lines are now stretching releases out as long as possible at every chance, and that some retailers cancel preorders or ship them last while getting exclusives. I want to just be able to order them easily and get them, rather than chase preorders up to a year ahead of time with zero guarantees it will actually be fulfilled. I'm also rather tired of endless exclusives, even if it's how they help secure sales in-store and pay for some tooling for the rest of the line.

i gotta go yell at some clouds now...

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series 6 inch discussion

I didn't.

The start of the line had all kinds of issues between exclusives and Covid. But we are years removed now. Any problems finding Cobra Island stuff at TRU now?

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series 6 inch discussion

I don't mind preorders only because I am long past the days of hunting for figures. While Joes seem now to be pretty plentiful (Pulse and Con exclusives, like Mindbender, aside) others, like Star Wars, have become ridiculous in some cases to find without a preorder.

Whether the previous availability of Joes was covid-related, I can't say. What I do know is that, at my age, and with the time I have available to me, I tend to prefer the figs either arriving at the door (assuming my wife doesn't see them) or getting a call to go to my local GS to get them.

Finding a retro carded Storm Shadow nearly broke me. That I stumbled across one is still a minor miracle.

My only gripe is why Pre-orders from Pulse can Sold Out? Isn't the point of a pre-order is to allocate how many figures to produce?
