nice Pudd, you're over the 1st hurdle. Permission.

2nd is buy it,

3rd, finding a place to display it

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

Yeah lack of space is killer. That's my big problem now, but I just want one so badly haha. I could shove it in the closet temporarily and only take it out when I want to play with it. My gf was like, "Ugh! Don't tell me how much it is. Just buy it with the vacation fund and pay back the account when you sell stuff."

It looks like sideshow has plenty. I think I'll wait to see how much I like the Batpod first.

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

So having opened up my newest HT acquisitions, I'll do a short review of the 3.

Iron Monger

What it comes with
-Iron Monger figure
-Obadiah Head
-chain necklace for Obadiah
-Jet Thruster attachments for legs

Well for starters this thing is a beast! Some of the things I love about it

-the texture on the armor is fantastic
-the sheer size, definitely a presence on any collectors shelf
-it actually opens up to reveal Obadiah underneath
-the Jeff Bridges sculpt is really nice
-the arm articulation is really smooth, which is a bonus considering there are pistons attach to the arm. So you don't have to worry about breaking them (as long as you are gently with it of course)

Picture of the pistons on the back

Size Comparison with HT Whiplash

Now onto the cons
-for the amount of accessories that IM comes with it, the price is a little high ($450 range). But you are paying for the size of the thing
-there is no metal pieces on the figure, which I think would have a nicely added touch, especially on the pistons. With them moving everytime you adjust the arms, the added stability and flexability of metal vs plastic would have been better in the long run
-The figure has the luxury of not needing a stand, but some sort of name plate would have been a nice touch

Overall, I still love this figure; and I definitely love that it's part of my collection

Score: 4.5/5

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

Now onto

Hawkeye

What he comes with
-Hawkeye figure
-nameplate stand
-a butt load of arrows
-a large amount of arrow heads
-sun glasses
-quiver
-2 bows, 1 that can open and close; and the other with a string
-a bunch of hands

So onto the pros
-the amount of accessories is awesome. With the amount of arrows that the figure comes with, the display options is endless.
-the outfit is really well done
-I do like the Jeremy Renner head sculpt, not perfect, but really good.
-the quiver has a really nice amount of detail

Cons
-The because there is only 1 joint in the bicep, it's pretty hard to get a natural "shooting" pose with the figure
-Putting the arrows in the quiver is a huge Pain in the A$$
-attaching the quiver to the figure is kinda a pain as well.

With Nick Fury

Overall, the figure is good, but not great. I really wanted him for my Avengers collection. But as a stand alone figure, probably would have passed on him. So I believe the cheerleader effect will take over when I get the rest of my Avengers in

Score 3.5/5

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

last, and certainly not least

DX 12 Batman

Finally, I was able to get a Batman figure from the Nolan movies in the new suit, having missed out on the DX 02.

What's included?
-Batman figure
-3 face plates (grim face, neutral which looks more smiley, and open mouth rage)
-2 belts, one with pouches and such, the other plain. The plain belt is used with the sticky bomb gun, which is held on by magnetics
-alt Bruce Wayne Head sculpt
-neck collar for displaying BW head on figure
-EMP gun (lights up)
-grapnel gun
-2 batarangs
-2 spiked bombs
-alt hands
-cape
-display stand (lights up)

Pros
-From the start, the figure is stunning. Despite what a lot of people have said before the figures released, all of the negative preconceive notions have washed away once I opened the figure
-the mesh suit with the armor pieces glued on is a big plus, especially if you like to have dynamic poses. No fear of rubber ripping
-the new belt is really nice, I love the gold/bronze color. Much nicer then the duller bronze/gold on the previous belt (from the Toys Fair Batman Begins belt)
-The Bruce Wayne unmasked sculpt is fantastic. The best HT has produced to date.
-The angry face (mouth closed) looks much better in person then it did in the P/O photos
-the new Grapnel gun is awesome. It has a sliding mechanism and the clip actually comes out.
-I love the display stand. Having part of the city hall stair steps is a great base for the stand
-inclusion of the 2nd belt with the sticky bomb is awesome, now I can display the figure in the HK scene from TDK

Cons
-the "derpy" eyes that the figure initially comes with. Painting the eyelids greatly increases the figures facial sculpt
-The mesh in the legs is sewn so tightly, that it is really hard to move the legs on the figure. I think the figure would have benefited from smaller thighs.
-With the thighs so hard to move, I'm afraid of displaying the figure on my Batpod
-the EMP gun's single LED doesn't give a bright enough light like in the movie. I think having the LED behing the plastic pegs would have given off a better light.
-kinda hard to display the figure shooting the EMP gun

Overall, its a fantastic figure. Definitely a must for all Batman fans

Score: 4.5/5

I started to mod the figure once I got it. Some of the mods that I did:
-painted the eyelids
-cut of the buckle from the gloved hands and widened the gauntlets so that the gloves could be tucked underneath the gauntlets.
-added a custom cape, made of Rayon
-pulled in the shoulder plates, to make the shoulder a little more slimmer.
-widened the ankles

Some more photos

Thanks for the reviews Carl! I still haven't opened up my HT Hawkeye (will be opening it on Christmas). I was hoping for a more favorable review but still looking forward to it!

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

Awesome haul and reviews CTO15!

Monger is a beast! What a grail piece! I'm seriously considering expanding into the IM/Avengers line but it's just going to open Pandora's box. I'm tempted to pull the trigger on Hulk. But I have a feeling that's just not going to satisfy the completest in me. I don't think I'm quite ready to make that kind of financial commitment...yet.

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

Picked up the Bat Pod. Awesome. It's just great. Besides the obvious kickass nature of it, couple quick complaints:

1) Batman is not very posable, so there's no way I can see of replicating what he actually looks like in photos on the Bat Pod. Sits way too high. Ah well.

2) It sees a bit fragile... I'm sort of afraid to touch it. Still, I think this is enough to convince me to buy the Tumbler. I just don't know where these toys will go...

Edit: I see that Sideshow still has the Tumbler available, but does anyone know how much shipping would cost? Probably an arm and a leg...

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

How close do you live to the border pudd? I would have it delivered to one of those mailing places in the US, and pick it up and import yourself.

Shipping for a figure that is 4 lbs is $25, plus the butt raping of the $40 charged by FedEx for the bonding fee. I can only imagine what it would be with the tumbler
