Definitely. Try searching up local acrylic places and seeing what they charge.

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

I just received the Iron Man Mk1 from SPC, I was very excited for this since I couldn't afford the v1 back when it came out, so having another chance to get this figure again, I jumped at the chance.

But to be honest, I am not very impressed. The wrist cuff on the flame piece was broken right out of the box, minor blunder, nothing a little CA glue can't fix. But it just seems to me that I am not getting much for the price. I mean, the details are great and all, but the "metal" pieces still look very plastic-ky (maybe overcoat is too flat and not glossy enough). There just isn't the shine to it to make it look like it is metal (the product pictures look a bit better, probably just due to lighting though).

Am I going to keep it? Most likely.
Am I going to get anymore? Probably not.

Although my opinion may be skewed right now since I just returned from my vacation in Europe and my senses are still overloaded. So maybe I'll come back to this after a few weeks and it might be the best thing ever.

Is that your first HT? If so, I know what you mean. In terms of not being impressed. I like my Christopher Reeves Superman, but I was underwhelmed initially since it felt like a doll to me. We'll see how Batman and the Batpod turns out. If they are great, I'll probably buy more HTs. If they don't live up to the price tag, I am out. These days, if I am spending that kind of money, it needs to be worth every penny. I think Batman will live up to it.

Re: Hot Toys or other 1/6th goodness that makes our wallets cry

The only thing that is really bothering me is the paint on the armor pieces. They could have used a metallic paint to make the pieces look more like metal. It's sort of like buying a Transformer figure that look like it has a metallic paint job from the boxart and then only to find out that it doesn't on the actual toy (ie. Takara Prime Knockout). I just didn't expect to experience the same thing on a figure of this price point.

Picked up HT Nick Fury yesterday from My Cartoon Heroes. Great figure to start off the Avengers line. Can't wait for the rest of the team.

My card got charged for Hawkeye Friday of last week, anxiously awaiting the attempted delivery notice from FedEx in another week or so, so long as the storms don't screw it up too much....
