2010 Canadian Toy and Hobby Fair Lego Report

Action Figure News.ca has been given an exclusive peak into the Lego display at the 2010 Canadian Toy & Hobby Fair and though pictures weren't allowed we are happy to share many of Lego's upcoming products in 2010. Of interest here's what we learned:

- Duplo returning with Pixar's Cars and Toy Story
- Lego Games premiere, build, customize, and play board games
- Single character blind packs
- Returning lines: Creator, City, Racers, Power Miner, Space Police, Technic, Harry Potter and Star Wars
- New lines: Atlantis, World Racers, Kingdoms, Toy Story 3, Prince of Persia, and Ben 10
- Bionicle "ending" and being reimagined as Hero Factory

Lego Canada has a surprisingly huge display at this years toy and hobby fair show and allowed myself and fellow board member Aernaroth a guided tour of the upcoming Lego products in 2010.

First we were shown the return of Duplo, the toddler line for Lego. This year they will be tying their license with Disney into the line by making Duplo Cars and Toy Story based on the Pixar film characters.

Afterward we were shown something new Lego will be trying to get into Lego games, a line where kids and adults alike build various games and then play them. With customizable dice, rules, and sets this will add a new level of fun that Lego has yet to attempt.

Next we found that many of their popular lines will be continuing in Creator, City, Racers, Power Miner, Space Police, Technic, Harry Potter and Star Wars. Many cool and interesting sets to come out in each of those, of interest to me was the TIE Defender in Star Wars as that craft has been rather obscure in recent years. Also of interest was the introduction of blind packs that will contain 1 of 16 unique characters that can be used on a standard Lego set.

New lines to come include Atlantis, another underwater series with submerged bases, squids, and submarines. World Racers, unlike Racers, will fit your usual Lego characters and feature other racing vehicles like hovercrafts, speed boats, and snowmobiles. Kingdoms will be anther medieval series bringing back the theme of castles and knights.

Through licensing this year Lego will also be bringing Toy Story 3 and Prince of Persia playsets and characters into the mainline and another franchise will be added to the mix, Lego Ben 10 which uses Bionicle like enginneering. Speaking of Bionicle this year Lego will be ending the line which started back in 2002 by turning it into Hero Factory usuing a similar design to the Bionicle line.

I emailed Lego Canada re: this and they wouldn't even acknowledge their existance let alone give me release info. Any idea what the price point was or the release date?

I don't have pricing but series 1 is listed to come out in June and series 2 in September.

Im really looking forward for the hero factory line ever since a teaser tralier and leaked images but still the storyline is kind awkward

Did you see the Jester, Wizard & Knight's Showdown
sets? Are the jester and wizard small boxed sets similar to the Atlantis Manta Warrior?
Also, did you see series 2 of the minifigs and if so, what types of characters are included in this series?

Ya, exactly the same "class size" for the Jester (22 piece) and Wizard (19 pieces) as Manta Warrior. Knights showdown is a larger set (61 pieces) that contains 2 minifigures, a catapult, and a weapon rack.

That's great. I can finally get a jester w/out having to spend $$$ on a set I didn't want. Was there a cowboy in the series 2 minifigs, by any chance? Hopefully the minifigs series will also be available on lego shop@home.
