And for all the silliness, the show still did have some great episodes that could just as easily have been written for prime time dramas. "Worlds Without End" "There's No Place Like Springfield" Both of those were great sci-fi episodes that were probably more highbrow than the target audience warranted at the time.

The cartoon on the whole was pretty stupid, although it had its moments like when the cobra carrier crashed into the Flagg and both sunk. Amazing, did not see that coming.

The first “realistic” cartoon that I ever saw was Robotech which I adored. I loved the GI Joe comic but could rarely afford the $1.25.
