Re: Star Wars Black Series discussion

Ever think we will lose toysrus in Canada just like the bankruptcy for toysrus USA?

Re: Star Wars Black Series discussion

TRU in the US went out of business because it was deliberately saddled with debt by the corporate owners. That's not what's going on here. It's just the bew management trying to see how much they can squeeze out of their customers. I wouldn't be surprised if saw more sales now that the proces are higher. Of course, it's a completely artificial savings.

Yeah I noticed that. Sales aren't even really sales here. What we get for sales is the equivalent to a 20% off coupon the Americans get on the regular for Target, Walmart, etc.

TRU up here is in a different position than TRU US when it went bankrupt.

However that doesn't mean it won't/can't happen here. Esepcially with the new pricing increases. It could result in a big enough drop in sales that it hurts.

The biggest problem for retailers in these types of situations is customer perception. It can cause a shift in customers perception, and buying habits. Which may not be immediately noticeable, and by the time the trend is noticed it may be too late to get those customers back.

In the short term I wouldn't be worried, but as I said, never say never.

This. I went out ?hunting?, which normally includes me hitting my local Walmart, GameStop, and TRU. I didn?t even bother going to TRU because of this. I work hard for the little cash that I can spend, and these kinds of over the top price hikes are borderline insulting. I?ll take my money elsewhere.

Re: Star Wars Black Series discussion

Does anyone remember how it was only I think 2 or 3 years ago when TRU Canada was bought by some other group, that TRU immediately stopped having 25% and 30% off sales?

The sales suddenly became 10% and 15% off. I was like, "Uhhh, I get the same discount at EB Games and they tend to get their new waves in first long before TRU does, so why would I bother with TRU any more?"

I think their management learned their lesson since the sales went back to 20% (because 10% and 15% off are crap and I think many customers stopped giving them business).

Hopefully their new price increases result in customers refusing to go to their stores, I know I sure won't be going there much any more.

Can someone tell me if there was a coupon for any savings at TRU recently? There is a couple of Vintage Collection figures that I would like to pick up.

$20 off purchases of $100 or more.
$10 off purchases of $50 or more.

Both on the website.
