Now you don't know if the figure has any feet at all. Closed box is fine if the company is consistent and you know you're going to get a complete product with good paint apps. Sadly thats not Hasbro so every figure is a gamble now.

Nice. Out of boredom during lockdown last year, I did an 90s X-men collection. Bought them all on the secondary market... amusingly for the prices that Hasbro now charges for regular figures :/

You have options now. In 2023, there's going to be an 'X-men 97' Wave for ML. Probably cheaper and easier to acquire than the VHS figures.
