4,816 Gamestop in Canada???? Considering that there are 408 Walmart stores in Canada and they are far more important than GameStop that number is definitely inaccurate.

I'm thinking that number is North America wide...i dont see them having that many locations in Canada either.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

GameStop’s LinkdIn page says they have 4000 stores across Canada, USA and 17 other countries. So that’s their total number.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

Yeah Google didn't provide a correct answer, that number is N. America wide. I googled again and went to a different answer this time from the provided list of answers:

Quote:
How many Gamestops are there in Canada?

As of January 30, 2021, the company operated 4,816 stores including 3,192 in the United States, 253 in Canada, 417 in Australia and 954 in Europe.
I do wonder if this still means Gamestop has more purchasing power to get a better wholesale price from Hasbro, if they are buying as a combined N. American entity, rather than just Gamestop Canada alone doing an independent purchase from Hasbro Canada.

There should be that many, they should expand and sell groceries and liquor and cannabis as well.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

TRU should not be paying $300 a case in any way. Even assuming freight to individual stores being factored it (which it likely is and should be), it's way too high. They would be better off if each individual store ordered from a US distributor.

Are you sure $300 isn't the total retail value of a case? I know that math doesn't add up with their new prices.

EDIT - I'm not really questioning the info, it just can't make sense of it.

I have no knowledge either way, but even back to the EB Games days I assumed that they had a buy in conjunction with Gamestop, which is why they were able to receive goods much earlier than TRU.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

TRU buys from the distributor owned by its parent company. And with its newly inflated retail prices, I wouldn't actually be surprised if this $300 per case price was real, or close to it, and is just a scheme to funnel more money back to the owners.

Increase costs at TRU, and drive down profits to avoid paying taxes, and move the money to the distribution arm, where conceivably they're taxed in a more favourable way. I have no proof of this, of course, but it's definitely not outside of the realm of possibility.
