Re: McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse toyline

Seems awfully pointless to even have to be it on the packaging for gun accessories that are meant for action figures.

It's just to prevent a lawsuit.

Just out of curiosity...the Target exclusive DC Rebirth Supergirl was available for pre-order at GameStop stores a while ago, but have any actually turned up in stores?

I never saw them in any stores in the Montreal area, but according to the store availability map, they made it to stores further out around the city. Now they are all gone, across the country, if the map is to be believed.

That sucks. I'm in Toronto and I haven't seen any at all. I was hoping they would be somewhat available like the Target exclusive Ocean Master, Impulse and Deadman figures (the last of which ended up at online at Walmart for a brief period). If GameStop doesn't end up getting any in-store by the end of the Christmas holidays, I guess I may have to resort to paying more on eBay then.

Anyway, here are official pics of the upcoming Superman and Knightfall Nightwing figures.

And the Collectors Edition Firestorm, Hawkman and Sinestro figures are now available to order on Amazon.ca.

Hawkman:

Ugh, the hands on that Superman are still stupidly huge.

And do Nightwing's hands look too small?

McFarlane has to follow the licensing rules to make the toys but as its own company they are 100% allowed to make their own products which includes "not a toy" gun collectibles. Labelling it as "not a toy" is just to appease WB licensing agreements. Make silly rules and you end up with silly results.

Not just guns either. One of the first victims of this rule was a Mezco Constantine that was missing guns and a cig while having hands sculpted to obviously hold guns and a cig.

I don't know if that is accurate in the specific case of these weapons packs. Of course it is accurate for WB and their licensing.

These packs are marketed under McFarlane Toys/Spawn branding. They have nothing overtly tying them to WB or their properties (of course we know some of the weapons are meant to go with some DC Multiverse figures).

So McFarlane doesn't have to follow WB's rules, which is pretty obvious with the fact that they are releasing guns in a weapons pack. That would be a big No-No for WB, but this is what? Weapons pack #3?

So while WB may have rules in place for it's licensees, clearly that doesn't extend beyond their specific characters being produced. Which is why McFarlane keeps making these. If WB had an issue with them he probably wouldn't make them, but since he keeps making them I don't think WB has any input on the matter.

That's too bad. I ordered Firestorm from Amazon.ca and got the regular one.

You could always hold onto the chase variant and see if you could sell it down the road?

That wouldn't be the case as it's not a DC product.
Not sure why. Maybe something about it being an accessories pack and not intended as a toy product.
Not quite sure the signaficance.
