A loose theory at best.

Very much agreed. I am no authority on the matter.

Got my outback from Star action figures in the UK. Such a nice figure. Reminds me of myself, handsome, manly and rugged. Or at least that’s the way I think of myself.

In theory Walmart and Amazon would both like this because they get everything sold, then a double-dip for a piece of the resale value on their platform when it's relisted. Don't know if it's bots or just how the game is played now.

I get that everyone is trying to make a dollar, but it feels kind of unfair, and like it just makes everyone pay more for something they should have had a chance to get at MSRP.
Yup it has become rather unfair. Bots/Scalpers/resellers ruined the online experience and stores ruined in the in store experience.it makes collecting so hard now cause like you said, everyone wants to make a dollar off anything they can.

I think it?s more that the market has become so ruthlessly competitive with lots of resellers. ebay and craigslist give resellers easy access to scalp like never before. The result is non collectors buying up limited supply and cornering markets. They also know if they can?t sell within a reasonable time frame they can return to store. Back in the day what could a reseller do other than go to swap meets conventions etc to try to sell products, maybe take out a classified in the newspaper. It was hard to get access to secondary market buyers. It’s more efficient economically now, but sometimes with efficiency comes less fun

Plus the cost of entry is basically zero now.

As you said, before there was a cost to scalping toys, even Ebay was a cost to sellers. Then once Ebay eliminated listing fees (mostly) it became a near zero cost to sell items to a large swath of people. Sellers basically could go in with any price they wanted because it didn't cost them anything if it didn't sell. When there were listing fees you took a hit if something didn't sell, which meant a lot of sellers were more realistic in their pricing. And now with kijiji (et al) and marketplaces (Amazon, Walmart) and Facebook, etc. There is so much choice and basically zero cost to list/sell that the "incentive" to move product is basically gone. So why not sit on product for years at inflated prices since it doesn't cost you anything, unless you are paying for storage.

Yeah that's actually a really good deal, I have never ordered from Zavvi , is it anygood I might just grab this, still more then I want to pay for 1 figure, since I have no interest in the Bike, but I wouldn't mind adding him to the collection.
