Any thoughts on Walmarts sudden interest in the EU?

I'm kinda surprised that Walmart, of all retailers, is the one ending up with the most fan driven figures(exclusives). I-5, the Dark Trooper, Alien Rogue pilots, YVH-1, so on. I think even Fenn and Tobi were Walmart exclusives.

Its surprising because these figures while very familair to EU fans, are kinda unknown in the grand scheme of things having never appeared in the films or Cartoon Series.

Anyway if they keep getting them then I'll keep buying them, its just one of those distribution decisions that I find odd.

If I recall correctly in non-movie years there has always been a focus on more collector focused figures.

Re: Any thoughts on Walmarts sudden interest in the EU?

It may be that the EU was one of few un-tapped sources for figures in 2006/2007.

We really didn't see a lot of EU stuff before 2006, aside from the one assortment way back(1997?) with Thrawn and Jade and the Shadows of the Empire tie ins.

Official word from Hasbro for years was always that they didn't think the EU would sell well. They have obviously changed their mind now.

Yet, still no Gilad Pellaeon figure

Wow...the title of this thread made me think WalMart was intensifying their efforts to expand into the European Union. :-p

I'll be looking for the Darktrooper and YVH-1. I'd definitely buy a Pellaeon in a hearbeat.

I'm an Imperial fan through and through.

For the Empire!

No I mean the Wal-Mart exclusive droid factory two packs. A second set of 6 two-packs is coming in summer. And the Dark Trooper is the build a droid.
