Welcome to the AFN Action Figure of the Year Awards for 2010! There will be some changes to this years awards, hopefully ones that will add to the overall idea in a positive way.
With the categories presented you should be able to vote for any action figure or toy, released in Canada in 2010.
Categories will be 'stuck' above each corresponding discussion forum for visibility.
The main Categories Are:
G.I.Joe The Rise of Cobra and Subsequent Pursuit of Cobra lines dominated this year.
DC Comics A lot of new action figures from the pages of DC Comics hit toy shelves this year.
Marvel Universe : It was a big year for Marvel in 2010. Iron Man 2 hit theaters providing a very deep toy line with it. As well numerous new Marvel releases came out this year.
Star Wars: The Force continued to be with Star Wars in 2010. The Clone Wars, the conclusion of the Legacy Collection and new Vintage Collection headlined the franchise throughout 2010.
McFarlane/
Other: Todd McFarlane continued to produce popular figures in 2010, including his ever popular McFarlane Sports lines, Prince of Persia figures and figures based on the Halo franchise.
Notable figures from other toylines can be included in this category as well, from Wrestling to Avatar. Whatever suits your fancy.
MOTU: This collector oriented line proved very popular amongst collectors in 2010, providing MOTU fans with incredibly detailed updates of favorite characters.
Transformers: 2010 saw numerous new additions to the Transformers universe. Generations looked to the past to add classic characters to the modern toy linup while The Hunt for the Decepticons added depth and fun to the Movie lineup.
In addition we're going to try a couple new categories this year:
Best Vehicle/Playset: We've seen a lot of vehicles and playsets released over the past 12 months from numerous different toy lines. Vote for your favorites here.
Best Basic Action Figure: This will be part of the final round and will include all basic figures from all lines under 6 inches in height. The winner of this category will be the AFN action figure of the year.
Best Toy: This category is wide open, encompassing everything from the other categories in one big winner take all battle royal! Transformers vs G.I.Joe, Star Wars vs Marvel, DC vs He-Man, Night Raven vs Slave 1, so on, so forth.
Voting
Vote for your favorite five figures of 2010 in any or all categories of your choosing, A scoring system is in place to determine the top five figures in each category so be sure to mark your picks in order of popularity.
First Place = 5 Points
Second Place = 4 Points
Third Place =3 Points
Fourth Place = 2 Points
Fifth Place = 1 Points
Final point totals will determine the rankings in each individual category, with the winner from each category advancing to the final round.
The Final Round will consist of a poll containing the winners from each of the individual categories with the winner being named the AFN Action Figure of the Year!
Two voting options exist.
1. Vote in the corresponding thread, placing your choices in a post.
2. PM your votes to
Robimus. Be sure to include the category you are voting in in the PM if you don't wish to post them for the public.
A running total will be displayed atop each category thread and will be updated on a weekly basis.
Voting will run from December 6th until December 25th in the individual categories with voting for the finals taking place between Dec 26th and Dec 31st.
On January 1st the AFN Action Figure of the Year will be crowned!
*Note: Be sure to be specific when submiting your votes. For instance don't just vote for "Snake Eyes" as Action Figure of the year. Be sure to include all prevelent information such as "Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes from G.I.Joe: The Rise of Cobra"*
