On a side note, I’m super impressed with the new packaging and artwork. Looks very collector focussed and expensive haha maybe I’ll start keeping some figures in package.
Amazon doesn't care. They are basically the YouTube of ecommerce. It's just a platform for Hasbro to sell Hasbro products. Hasbro still needs to manage products, stock/ inventory and listings with Amazon.

No matter how bad the experience we the consumers have, it affects Hasbro more than Amazon at the end of the day. Jeff makes the coin inbetween.

The Ultimate Green Goblin BAF wave started out at $19.99, then crept up to $24.99 for a few weeks, then settled at $29.99. So technically they raised their price twice. Either Hasbro or Walmart. I didn’t visit TRU regularly enough back then to notice. That was also when the line ‘relaunched’, and I’m not sure what the price was before that with the ‘Return of Marvel Legends’ line. So it could have been an early hook price or just Walmart being Walmart and f-ing them up in the computers. Shrug.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

Yup I was collecting at the $19.99 price point. Thought the $24.99 lasted a bit longer, I felt like that was a reasonable price.

I started collecting ML during the 'Return' waves. I believe they were around $17-$18 at the time. It was a huge jump when they relaunched with the 'Infinite' line look.

The Return of Marvel Legends kicked off in 2011 with SDCC Thor priced at $24.99 USD

I know that because I stood in line that year first time I went to San Diego for comic con

Prior to that when Hasbro took over the license and started Waves Annihilus Red Hulk Nemesis and Ronan the price per case of 8 was $125 USD before shipping

The ultimate green goblin wave was much later when Target opened in Canada

The prices were $20 USD

I ended up paying closer to $25 USD per figure after shipping from importing from either BBTS or Robot Kingdom

I didn’t find the entire wave at Target until after I ordered my case

I believe Agent Venom Toxin Boomerang and Spider Girl were the swap outs
You may have picked up that wave when Target liquidated in Canada

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

I was bored, so put together a little history based on browsing through the sightings thread!

After that SDCC-exclusive Thor started off the "Return of Marvel Legends" in 2011, the regular waves started showing up in early 2012.

In Canada at TRU first for $19.99 CAD: http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=1097

Then a few months later at Zellers for $17.99: http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=1314

Then finally Walmart: http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=1418

There was only 7 waves of ROML from 2012-2013.

Then they started the "Infinite" line look in boxes in early 2014.

The Ultimate Goblin and Mandroid waves did start down at $19.99 CAD when they first started showing up.
Target - http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=1995
Walmart - http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=2019

TRU brought them in at $26.99 though: http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=1972
However they did eventually drop to $24.99 a few months later.

Walmart quickly hopped on with their own price increase to $22.92 - http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=2204

The other 2 waves of 2014 were only available at TRU (Jubilee and Groot waves).
So for all of 2014, Walmart and Target only had the Goblin and Mandroid waves. (Target did end up getting Groot wave in the new year but by then it didn't matter much anymore - for collectors or for the Target chain).

2015's Allfather wave brought a slight tweak to the box style, along with a tweak to the price:

Walmart $24.92 - http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=2916

All the Target stores were closed by April 12, 2015.

It wasn't until April 2016 that the $29.99 price jump happened. This is also when EB Games started carrying a lot more figures.

TRU - http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=3737

Walmart a couple months later - http://www.actionfigurenews.ca/board...postcount=4025

So we went from $18 in 2012 to $30 in 2016. And that's where it's been ever since. So 4+ years at $30 each.
I wouldn't be surprised to see a price jump in the next year, maybe to $32 or something.

Well done, wedge! That seems pretty accurate to me, from my recollections.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

That was great. I remember passing on the first GOTG wave cause they just bumped the price up to $25 and could not get over the cost for 1 figure.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

Well since I order my cases from BBTS the prices have remained consistently $20 USD per figure before shipping

Cool story bro but HASBRO didn’t increase the prices

Maybe Canadian retailers did over time
