Toys R Us Will Close all Of It?s U.S. Stores

Toys R Us Will Survive in Canada

*Even as it winds down, the retailer is looking for ways to keep the brand alive, said the people familiar with the company's plans. In one plan, the company would sell the stronger Toys R Us Canadian business, along with roughly 200 of its most profitable U.S. stores, to a new buyer. The new business would then be run out of Canada.

The company does not plan to liquidate its Canadian business.*

It still hinges on them finding a buyer though - but hopeful news at least!

Re: Toys R Us Will Close all Of It?s U.S. Stores

Aren't they meeting in court tomorrow? As well as whoever putting in bids if they want to buy the company? It was also said by others that MGA put in their bid for TRU Canada, and there were some that said they'd want to try to save a few of the most profitable TRUs in the States. There's so much misinformation and half truths that I don't know what to believe anymore. I wish everyone would just wait until everything is set in stone then to start posting about it. I feel like Toyark and other toy news outlets have been stating over and over that they're dead for weeks now, and not even as rumour or speculation but as fact, and while that may be their ultimate fate, let's know that for sure before stating as much.

Looks like they filed for liquidation of all stores. So unless a buyer can take over the 82 Canadian stores and up to 200 US outlets, they will be done.
