DC Direct Shut Down in Massive Lay Offs at Warner Bros
DC FanDome takes place in just under two weeks. The event is set to be one of the largest celebrations of the DC Comics brand that has ever taken place. Excitement was running high, with promises of new trailers, new comic story arcs, new collectibles, and new castings for movie and TV shows. Damn, I wanted that TAS Catwoman re-release.
Hope this doesn't impact McFarlane's line-up...

Re: DC Direct Shut Down in Massive Lay Offs at Warner Bros
That's a shame, but understandable.
Cost-cutting measures usually strike "redundant" departments hard, and make no mistake, DCD was redundant to the bean counters.
I can see it now. "How much are we spending to make toys? Why are we paying all this money to produce product in house? Don't we license this stuff to others to make money?". **CHOP**
Typical corporate timing as well. Let's wait until right before a big DC event, to hype everything DC, and pull the carpet out from under the people who do the daily grind to provide us with stories, products and events we enjoy.
Wonder how hard Jim Lee is going to ignore this at DC Fandome, while trying to hype the comic side of things, or will he address the situation? Same goes for whoever gets to do the same for the TV side of things. I always find it weird if they choose to ignore the situation and leave the elephant in the room. Better to address it upfront and move forward.

Ooof, sad to hear. I hope everyone that's lost their job is able to get back on their feet soon.

Well that sucks. Not sure why the collector arm of the company had to be cut?

terrible news, so much loss here (Jobs and good figures), DC Collectibles/Direct were the only DC figures I still had hopes in, and they were still releasing great stuff, I feel like only recently I got that Cheetah and Knightfall Catwoman, it seems scary to think that the only DC collectors line now will be McFarlane's Batman.. cough I mean DC Multiverse line

Never had an interest in these until last night. Could never get the lines and scales straight, Icons, Direct, Essentials. After getting the McFarlane Arkham Batman I was disappointed so last night I ordered essentials Batman Rebirth 2 and today I received the Nightfall Batman. Now the line is done.
