Ah! We're pretty sure we figured it out! Hasbro: "Some of these figures will also be available at Walmart in different non-Vintage retailer exclusive packaging in 2012." This must be exactly what is happening with G8-R3 and Ric Olie. VC72 through VC74 are getting REPACKAGED in the non-TVC Walmart exclusive packaging. In other words, VC72 - VC74 will be TVC figures first. Let's hope at least! G8-R3 and Ric Olie will be the only two figures truly exclusive to Walmart.
