The real question is: Are they counting units sold, or not? Ryan's response doesn't seem to address that. And while it doesn't matter in the grande scheme, it does potentially affect what kind of product we might see on shelves.

In my experience, most Walmarts in my area have dropped Marvel Legends almost completely, while there are always DC Multiverse figures on the shelves.

News like this influences corporate buyers.

The fact that somebody from Hasbro even responded is not a good look. It means they are aware of the general sentiment that is out there, and are feeling defensive about it.

If their stuff is selling to expectations, it shouldn't even be relevant to them.

It's possible that people online were asking him about McFarlane's claim and he had no choice but to respond. Always a double-edged sword being on twitter, you can't hide from the naysayers and if you ignore their questions it only makes the company look worse to the naysayers.
