Re: McFarlane DC Line Officially Outsells Marvel Legends and SW Black Series in 2021

Can’t say I’m surprised. The McF figures are cheaper and easier to find. I can’t even remember the last time I saw a new wave of Star Wars Black Series figures on shelves. Hasbro is effectively digging their own grave with insane price hikes and poor distribution and their customers are turning to McFarlane or Mattel or imports for their ‘fix’. I have, and I know I’m not the only one.

I've been wondering that about Mattel. How is it the WWE Elite figures hit $30 I believe roughly the same time as ML, and with Hasbro's price hikes, the WWE figures have yet to see an increase.

This is fascinating. Hasbro is making excuses why their prices are rising so disproportionately to other companies.

They are expecting sales to recede in the next few years, so they are compensating.

Lol, the only reason their sales would recede is due to all these price increases.

It's not hard to see why. Cheaper than ML, more readily available, and honestly despite some of the flaws of the figures, they still look great (unless you're WW...)

Lol, poor Wonder Woman. Todd needs to make a proper classic WW and a Movieverse WW to redeem her.

Not a Surprise. Keep raising prices and making your product hard to find and this is what happens. The only thing Todd needs to fix is that "side eye" thing he has going on.

I realize now that the "side eye" on the figures is actually Todd taking a shot at his competitors.

It's his way of saying.."See ya later" as he passes them by

Ryan from the big three on the ML team.

I get what he is saying, or at least trying to say. If it was as simple as ML vs DC it would probably be ML over them. However the NPD doesn't break down that simply.

Why? Sheer numbers it would seem. ML just puts out massive amounts of product.

Either way it is a bit of a PR win for McFarlane, and it seems Ryan is doing a bit of spin to try and get the narrative away from what was published. Of course, much like a joke, if you have to explain it, it's already too late.

In the end it really doesn't matter, except for how it might look to Hasbro. Of course the recent articles about how Hasbro and Mattel are looking at the near future of the toy market probably didn't help any either.
