Re: Marvel Legends discussion

I dunno what part of the country you guys are in but at least in Ontario, the price increase has been in affect since June. I saw the whole Shang Chi Wave for $33.97 at my local Walmart about 2 months ago

As far as I know, no? I was in my local Walmart today and it was in the same spot it was always in, except it was bare with nothing there but one Shang Chi wave figure.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

Some ML figures are worth that price, but not all.

PRLC figures are definitely not worth that price.

Hell, I'm not sure if I can justify paying $40+tax for that Infinity Mark 3 Iron Man. It's a solid figure, I can afford it.. but 45 dollars after Tax for a mass retail action figure, is a ripoff.

I wonder if the price hikes are related to the pandemic.

Maybe pandemic related, or just greed. Maybe companies are realizing that it's basically only collectors buying any of these figures now and are hiking the price. Price increases used to happen every few years, now it's every few months.

Yeah, mass retail action figures from lines like Black Series, ML and Star Wars in Canada are steadily approaching what an import figure would run you 10 years ago. I think the first hike was, but the ones after is hasbro trying to push the envelope and see what they can get away with. I don't even know why we got a price hike in the first place. We've always been paying more than the Americans. There was no reason to gouge us again. Not when the old price $30 CAD is equivalent to $24 USD which is just slightly above the current American price.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

Well the only positive I see here is the majority of us already have pretty vast collections, many near completion.. many running out of space anyway.

So it's a good time to scale down and be much less frequent with purchases, as the Hasbro prices are going up and they're clearly taking advantage of their loyal consumers.

Sucks for new collectors though.

I planned to not buy any MLs based on anything post-Endgame, and I have good incentive to stick to that now. Sorry ShangChi.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion

The thing that bothers me most is that the figures that have been there for months have also gone up.
They're not new stock so the price shouldn't go up.
The other thing is Retro figures, the new F4 wave is going to be $34 each as well and we don't even get a BAF part.

I'm interested to see where the Canadian collector market is going to go in the future when it comes to Action figure brands at big box retail. Low availability, price increases, out of reach exclusives. All problems that are a plague on the market here.

That would be a fantastic question to ask these Hasbro people who run panels etc...wonder how you could get in to ask a question like that...
