It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of*Hector Garrido, the artist who painted the artwork on classic G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero action figure packages. According to Tim Finn of A Real American Book!, Garrido died peacefully in his sleep on April 19. Garrido, born in Argentina, studied art in Buenos Aires before emigrating to the United States. His career began in the 1950s and in addition to his G.I. Joe work, Garrido’s resume includes The Three Investigators, The Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew and Baroness, as well as the 1969 “Astronauts” cover for Time magazine. Mr.
