I'm fairly certain those new higher prices at TRU and GameStop are not the new CDN SRPs, rather it's those companies looking to squeeze out more margin from these items, which as we've seen at TRU especially, is happening a lot these days.
Some of the smaller retailers (think DJC, eCollectibles, Outrun, etc.) have made comments on some of the Canadian collector's Facebook groups that the costs from McFarlane have not increased on any of these new figures that we're seeing price increases on at GS and TRU.
Heck, CMD, which is notorious for having totally whack pricing on
some of their products, has both Croc and Man-Bat listed at $49.99, and most of the other smaller retailers who have them up are at $54.99. They also have the standard sized figures posted between $26.99 and $29.99 rather than the $32.99 at TRU and $34.99 at Gamestop.
Amazon's pricing is kind of all over the place, but their pricing algorithm causes pricing funkery like that all the time and lots of them are third party listings. But, they have the upcoming Blackest Night Superman with BAF part at $29.99, ships and sold by Amazon.ca (just as an example of a price not being upped).
I'm particularly annoyed by GameStop's increases, they are the highest now, and they were always my go to due to ease of availability and having the Edge discount. Edge is meaningless now if the products are still more expensive than the competition once it's applied...
