Your "Not Mainstream" Toy Purchase

Not all toys are Hasbro/Mattel/Neca/McFarlane/Super7/etc...

Here's a place to list those other purchases that would never get a thread on its own.

New, old, fun, nostalgic, rare, whatever. Show off that purchase that you love that isn't part of the usual toy manufacture suspects.

Re: Your "Not Mainstream" Toy Purchase

9-10 year old me wanted this skateboard real bad. But by the time I was 10 it was already discontinued and sold out everywhere for at least a year or two. (Discontinued in 1987)

Re-issue 80s boards became a thing over the past 5 years or so. Seeing this classic with the wood stain background made me want it all over again except this will be wall art.

Not exactly your typical plastic action figure toy but a toy none the less and a gnarly one to say the least.

*I put it up and like it very much

Oh that's awesome, I also collect some skateboards, as a former Skateboarder I actually also just have a few I was a sponsored skater back in the day.

I'll post some of my collection later, got some fun ones.

Re: Your "Not Mainstream" Toy Purchase

Out of boredom I ordered this Garbage Pail Kids colouring book for $10 from amazon. There's a video review there that showed these were great prints. It arrives tomorrow. I intended to scan/copy them at home and just print what I want to use as I go so as to not ruin the bound book.

Being an unofficial book I wondered if I could find these images online and it turns out that Topps offers these colouring pages for free/download which is where those picts are from. There's 26 of them, one for each letter of the alphabet. Figured I would post the link in case someone wants to print some up for themselves or their kids. Scroll to the bottom for the downloads.

There is also an unofficial GPK colouring book that is kinda scuffed but more original than what I bought. I found a facebook page with clean downloads of those pages as well which differ from the above.

Posted some of my favourites here so you can see.

Lastly, Amazon shows a new official GPK colouring book releasing in 2025. Just throwing that in as a "just so you know".

Re: Your "Not Mainstream" Toy Purchase

Long time posters here may remember that I was, still am, a pre Disney Star Wars fan - particularly a fan of the Expanded Universe.

These Came to my attention last weekend so I ordered them up. "Supernatural Encounters" is Star Wars EU canon, most of which was originally meant to be published in 2010 on their old Hyperspace subscription program as well as Star Wars Insiders and Star Wars gaming magazines.

The original author has now published these short stories, which are very Star Wars, but not called Star Wars

Kinda bootleg EU fiction that was originally meant for actual publication.

This is the second time this has happened, the first being 'Heart of the Jedi" - again an unpublished novel from like 1996 that found its way onto Amazon a couple years back.

It then was pulled from Amazon days after it launch, and now sells for hundreds of dollars on eBay, lol.

So due to that having happened with Heart of the Jedi, I wanted to jump at these quick just in case.

Re: Your "Not Mainstream" Toy Purchase

Got this cool Garbage Pail Kids hardcover book. Each page is a picture of a card covering the first five series. Nice walk down memory lane and much cheaper than the cards. Seriously, even new cards are pricey for what they are.

Book also includes some sticker cards but I haven't opened them.
