Because people are racist.

Same reason female characters don't sell well. But in that case it's misogyny.

That's my worldview, anyway. Other people might feel different.

I don't know if I feel that is the reason behind it, but I guess that's a good enough guess as any.

I think it's more. Lando s a side character while, Luke, han and Leia are the main characters, over 3 movies. Lando was introduced at the end of empire and was in return of the Jedi for not that much screen time. So people will buy different versions of them and only buy one version of Lando.

That's not to discount there being some racism and for the case of female characters sexism at play for some people.

Meanwhile, Boba Fett has just 6 minutes 32 seconds of screen time in the original trilogy, and only 4 lines.

I think it?s like you said, he?s a bit of a side character. Also some people still turned off by the initial betrayal. That being said I love the character.

Re: Star Wars Black Series discussion

I consider Lando to be an important member of the main team of heroes, so I will always buy him to add to my display but over the years it's hard not to notice that his action figures always go on clearance for whatever reason. So I just wait until the clearance happens, usually.

And I think other toy collectors have figured it out too, so it becomes a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy.

All they need to do is short pack him, then he will be hard to find.

Re: Star Wars Black Series discussion

The bias idea is a bit of an over simplification to me.

Lando in particular hasn't been featured in the hip/cool Disney plus shows that are driving the franchise right now. Same with adult Leia.

What they did get featured in were dud movies that were kinda disliked by a significant portion of the audience. If "significant" is 30% or 50% or 70% I dunno, but it's a big enough hit.

Fennec Shan, Greef Karga, Kosta Reaves - they seem to move fine, but I also think less of them got produced.

Bo Katan got way over produced comparatively. I remember seeing 15 at one Gamestop. So she fell into shelf warmer mode.

Grabbed Saw Gerrera today from Gamestop, he was 32 bucks, if anyone was looking for him, it's a good figure, and that's a decent price for a "deluxe" black series.
