Well let's be a bit fair to Hasbro. They don't have control over the release date. They were probably just as pissed about the constant changing dates, and uncertainty.
Now on the flip side, they should have had product ready to go in storage just to avoid this type of situation. However then you have cost issues for storage, or put it out, ala Shang-Chi and watch it fizzle and clearance out before the movie ever releases. Now it will just clearance out because the movie, and most of the movie toys apparently suck and no one is really interested.
The moral of the story for Hasbro? Get used to not having much success with movie lines for at least another year, if not longer. Too much has changed, and even the "big" movies are only making a fraction of what they would have before the pandemic, including the toys (Black Widow, Shang-Chi, Snake Eyes, Eternals)
Also I saw the cheaper ($18 really??!!) figures the other day. They weren't too bad, but definitely not worth $20 after taxes. I'll definitely keep an eye out for clearance pricing on these.
