Ever notice how starwars or gi Joe figures fall apart if they are played with hard? So us collectors don't like the lack of articulation, the kids who the retail lines are geared towards don't care at all. Oh and it lowers their tooling cist by removing articulation.
I don't entirely agree... I remember really getting into the Joes as a little guy because they were the MOST poseable out of everything else out there... sure, some of them broke eventually, but plenty others survive to today relativelly intact.

(sigh) hard to fix broken thumbs though

DC DIRECT MAKES THE BEST DC STUFF.
I personally prefered the DC universe build a figure series.

I am not gonna waste any more money on MADtel.
I'm going straight for DC Collectibles all the way now.

Re: Why does Mattel not want articulation on their toys?

I remember when I was a kid, articulation mattered. Of course, I didn't know what articulation was then, but I remember being annoyed that Ninja Turtles couldn't make cool ninja poses. Why couldn't they make them like G.I.Joe? This is part of the reason I really like the new TMNT Classics line now. It's exactly what I wanted when I was a kid. Maybe kids today are easier to please..? But of course, the toys are way more expensive too.

I also usually really dig smaller figures. The 2011 Thundercats line was pretty cool. But I have to agree that the lack of articulation in smaller figures lately is annoying. I haven't bought any DC figures in years and I rarely buy the Marvel stuff anymore for this reason.
