I open a toy & post it here

Currently I have a glut of toys that I have bought and not opened. Seeing as I am not a MISB collector I need to eventual open these suckers, but I find that I am rushing through it; not appreciating the toy. So I decided to take some simple pictures and post them with a small review. Nothing special, but still allows me to get more out of my collection.

001

The New Batman Adventures: Batman.

When the announcement was made for these toys I was super exited as Batman TAS is my favourite cartoon and I have to say that I was not disappointed; this thing is awesome!

Pros: Great likeness, good articulation & awesome accessories

Cons: No breakage, but VERY fragile. Stand is nice, but does little to support poses. Not sure why Batman from the New Adventures was the part of the first release.

Overall, one of my favourite toys from the past year.

Thank you for sharing your pics
I guess, like me, you were in that "lucky" group of buyers that purchased a non defective Batman
Many people reported that their figure's ankle broke right out if the package

Thanks! To be honest I was petrified when I read those reports so I was, and continue to, be super careful when handelling it. Thankfully no breakage yet, but I'm not pushing it.

Thanks for the pics. I also bought this figure recently, haven't had much time to play around with or pose him yet. As others have said, some of the joints are really stiff and some have the feeling that they could snap/break with a certain amount of use. All in all, i'm a big fan of the sculpt of these figures. In terms of quality and perceived durability, I kind of view these as "mini statues with articulation" rather than action figures, if that makes any sense.

TeamJetfire maybe you can answer this question
Do the joint pegs on the figure look like they are molded in black plastic rather than translucent
It may be wishful thinking on my part but all my DCD figure breakages were the result of those translucent pegs breaking or disintegrating

Makes perfect sense to me; I'm the same way. In the past I purchase a lot of Macfarlane Toys and while they were exceptionally well crafted, they lacked articulation. It's not that I wanted to "play" with the toy, but wanted the freedom to pick a pose in which it was going to be displayed.

I've closely inspected the ankle joints and the various hands on mine and they look like black plastic. It would be interesting if some had translucent plastic causing these issues.

I'm hopeful that Batman's ankles will stand the test of time, but I'm not holding my breath.

Disney Infinity 2.0: Tinkerbell.

Bring a Disney fan I found it near impossible to not pass up these nifty little things. But are these figurines considered toys? Not trying to start a debate, but why wouldn't they? Sure there is no articulated and limited "play value" but seeing as all of my toys are posed on a shelf it's really the same difference. There is an added play value in that each one unlocks the character in the game, but I just like the look of them and will likely hold a place in my collection long after the games novelty is gone.
Pros: Great design, sculpt and pose. Unlocks a playable character in a game. Probably life size?
Cons: It's a statue, requires a considerable financial investment to play the character in the game and cannot actually help you fly.

Re: I open a toy & post it here

I havent opened my TAS Batman yet. Havent got time to open it yet. I have been buying a lot of toys lately but haven't really open or just barely touched them.

I really appreciate DC Collectibles including two styles of capes for Batman. I was worries that they replaced the first prototypes cape that covers his shoulders which was how he looks 90% of the show.

Funny that you mention that as it is the very reason why I started doing this. I have piles of unopened toys that I just have bought, but not have time to enjoy. Doesn't help that I have no place to display them.

If I were you, I would open Batman to make sure that it is not damaged in anyway; gives you time to replace is required before they become scarce.

Agreed; it's a super cool feature and really helps the overall astetic. EXTREMELY stressfull popping the head off though.

Jakks pacific, World of Nintendo: Mario.

Over 25 years Mario has been a iconic character and a staple in my life; with all the toys I have collected though the years it is crazy that it took so long to get a plastic version of him. I'll either chalk it up to Nintendo lacking the foresight and understanding that people love spending money on little plastic effigies of their childhood heroes, or maybe I just never noticed. In any case for 10 bucks this bad-boy was well worth the wait.

Pros: It's a nice representation of the figure as we have come to know him, decent articulation, great price!

Cons: Articulation is hindered by body and some poses are limited, would have been nice if he could hold his trademark mushroom?

Mattel 66' Batman; Surfing Batman

As a kid growing up in the 80's the '66 series was always a bit of a mixed bag for me. On one hand it was a syndicated series devoted to comics during a time when there was very little to offer, but on the other hand it was extremely silly and not at all the dark, action packed world that Tim Burton would have eventually introduced us too. I don't recall the ep that this figure is based on, but with the release of the Blurays perhaps I'll get a chance to find it. All things considered, I felt that the absurdity of this figure was well worth the price.

Pros: Batman on a surfboard with surfing shorts, what else do you need?

Cons: A stand, allowing him to "hang ten" would have been nice, looks like the rest of the series may have been scrapped.
