RIP TRU. Also, that etc leaves a lot of question marks in terms of other lines not listed. I wonder if this applies to wrestling figures and Masters of the Universe Origins for example.

What constitutes a “ collector” product? Are legends collector items?

The photo at the link includes Marvel action figures, so I would assume so, especially since it also lists similarly priced GI Joe and Star Wars figures. Isn't it just wonderful that we not only won't be able to see the actual figure we're buying (to check visible defects, wonky paint and printing apps), but we'll be stuck with whatever we find inside Hasbro's blind boxes. I mention Hasbro because at least with McFarlane and NECA you can see the actual product. I definitely would steer clear of TRU for Christmas gifts.

For sure anything that is Hasbro and has no plastic window (aka "blind box") is going to be non-returnable and non-exchangeable under this new policy. Steer clear from buying those at TRU.

Lol, can't even return JJ from Cocomelon. Didn't know he was collectible.
Also, the sign in the example seems store specific, there is no such list on the website.

Re: Toys R Us Canada Announces all Collector Items Products as FINAL SALE
With the blind box packaging, I kind of get it, and I've seen how most CS don't bother to actually look for swaps, even with fully visible packaging (though one lady was once extremely thorough and when I told her a part was broken she opened up the package and tried it out for herself... seeing someone who doesn't get toys try to understand what the problem was was quite the experience) so I can see how it's 'safer' this way. I could definitely see a random parent accidentally buying a box of rocks (or as I've seen once, a PS4 box filled with juice boxes) because of scumbag swappers. Can't have a nice thing when people act like that, and TRU wanted to get ahead of it because they probably saw the writing on the wall, or maybe even already have been dealing with it.
That said, breaks and bad QC does happen, so it's not an ideal situation. If people aren't honest with their returns on Amazon or Walmart I could see them following suit and at that point who do you turn to, the manufacturer? Not very ideal.

The website only mentions collector figures being non-refundable:
https://www.toysrus.ca/en/faq-policy...turnsexchanges
"No returns or exchanges on gift cards, 3rd party gift cards, trading cards, digital downloads, helium tank and Collector figures."
So that leaves it very open as to what TRU HQ or each individual store may consider to fall under the category of "collector figures".
They're probably leaving it more generic on their website to play it safe. Of course, collectors should also play it safe and just not buy from TRU.
