How much would it take you to quit collecting?

I'd like to know since, I've been seeing the prices for the 2014 Marvel Figures which have become ridiculously high.

When i first started collecting marvel universes were a good $9.99 and now after 4 years it has sky rocketed to $11.99. Any more than $10.99 I feel is too much.

Now the legends went from a nice 20 bucks to 26.99 + tax that's almost $30. I've passed out on these guys.

I've skipped on on Captain America's Winter Soldier stuff because of the prices.

The new legends cost more than the selects. I find that ironic.

When it comes to prices how much would you say is too much? And how much would it take for you to give up on collecting or to collect something different?

Other than at TRU, Legends are still at a decent $20. $26.99 is too much, so I'll always wait for sales before buying the new Legends at TRU. I can't say for sure what my absolute limit would be though, I do like Legends quite a bit. And Selects (around me at least) are at least $29.99, so Legends aren't quite there yet.

Re: How much would it take you to quit collecting?

I am giving up on collecting the Marvel Legends for this very reason. I have a collection of Hot Toys and Play Arts Kai. I then got the bug with Marvel Universe and the re release of the New Marvel Legends. When the prices hit over the $20.00 mark I said it was way too much. I am now in the process of selling all my marvel legends.

It's never fun to hear that someone is giving up collecting, no matter what the reason, but if it has to happen, better it be by your own choice.

Re: How much would it take you to quit collecting?

I thought I was pretty much done with collecting new Transformers and Star Wars, it looked like all the cool original vintage characters were released and I've been getting into vintage figures. Then I saw pictures from this years Toy Fair and I want the new Transformers Generations Jetfire, and Star Wars Black Series 3.75" Hoth Luke (more movie Accurate), 6" Biker Scout, etc.

I'm waiting to see Wave 3 of the Star Wars 6" Black Series in person, the first pictures of the Stormtrooper looked amazing, but the actual pictures of the figure aren't looking too great, and Bespin Lukes face is looking sad and weird...

I've yet to see any new legends at Walmart but at Target and TRU they were both going for 26.99.

Not sure what Target you go to, but they're $20 at mine.
