Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series 6 inch discussion

2 part post

In defence of KOs, there are lots of really awesome KOs out there.

I've bought many amazing quality transformer KOs in the past. In several cases I would easily choose the KO over the originals because they were improved and made better than Hasbros originals. Oversized KO PotP headmasters and dinobots stand out as great examples as well as the predaking.

Marvel Legends collectors often look to KOs for Hulk and Juggernaut figures as those seem to be top notch and in some cases better. I myself have a couple KO venom figures of the toybiz era that are legit great.

Not to mention the army builders who have loaded up on stormtroopers that look just as good on shelf. I've had a KO Boba Fett prototype a long while ago and it was a solid quality figure but then again I also had a KO Darth Maul that broke right away.

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series 6 inch discussion

Now concerning the Eel... Ell... I got an Ell it seems. But I would sooner believe that it is a production error that got caught and put aside and then released to the asian market instead of being disposed.

When I look up KO Classified figures all I find is the supreme and regal cobra commander. These figures starting popping up about 5 months ago and the original releases were about 3 years ago. If there were other confirmed classified KOs then I am sure someone would have made a post or video review of it.

I'm also looking for any difference in these figures and packaging to those in reviews and am not finding anything outside the "Ell".

Plus with KOs you typically don't see detailed manufacturing details/identification numbers stamped into the figures but these have them.

If someone with a confirmed Eel and not Ell is willing to take a snap of the bottom of the foot to compare.

If you got an Ell and not an Eel then post your figure foot bottoms.

Maybe put on the detective hats and we figure out this mystery.

My question is aside from real or ko...

Why would Hasbro if the locker box was misspelled would dump everything else instead of just printing the correct boxes and then fixing everything from there.

The misspelling seems off, but why as someone suggested that Hasbro would dump their entire inventory for something easily reprinted would be a strange business practice

I would guess the cost associated. Let's say 2000 units came out with a mislabel. Now you need to calculate the cost of printing a small batch of both the lockers and outer packaging, assuming they don't have extra packaging that can be used but it seems unlikely to have much if this is a limited run exclusive.

Then the man hours/cost of opening each one and removing the accessories and figure. If any accessory pack or figure packaging tray is torn/damaged along the way then that's tossed in the trash along with a figure otherwise you need to replace those as well.

I'm unsure how much automation there is vs man power in the packaging of these figures but now you have 2000 figures and accessory packs that need to be packaged again and sealed. If by people then that's a long time. If by machine then it will take a long time just to manually load these figures at the point that it needs to be along the automated process of the assembly line.

I could be wrong in details as I am not there looking at things but what I do know is that if you have sealed product that needs to be opened and re-packaged/sealed then you are looking at time and money being spent that was not part of the original budget.

And once that is all done you now have to ship these out to Amazon US as a small batch to sell which adds more cost to the whole process.

Decent chance the re-packaging would remove the profit margin on such a batch which in turn would call for disposal as the cheaper option.

Just speculation, but I would say that since these items are being manufactured in China by company not directly owned by Hasbro, it's that Chinese manufactures responsibility to provide the correct product/packaging etc. So Hasbro probably doesn't take the hit. But again, just speculating.

Hasbro released multiple Luke Skywalker figures with the name Skywalker misspelled on the front of the box. They wouldn't just dump a bunch of figures for misspellings on the inside accessories box.

Business is business. funko tossed millions in pops because they weren't moving and storage costs were higher than the profit margin on selling them.

Bottom lines make for tough decisions that make sense despite the waste.

Plus you know Hasbro collectors would likely mock Hasbro first and then complain and ask for a replacement if these were sold through Amazon who should be the only seller. PR costs are a thing.

Im tossing lots of speculation around but I have to wonder why no "Ell" versions ever showed up with Amazon. Someone would have noticed and made a joke of it upon initial release.

Re: G.I. Joe Classified Series 6 inch discussion

Honestly, they could have just sold all the misspelled ones to the Asian a d on English markets hoping no one would notice.

As someone in Manufacturing industry,, if factory in China misspelled, Hasbro can reject them all and have that company remake all of them.

That could have happened and the factory is recovering costs by selling them to local Chinese sellers.
