Re: Star Wars Black Series 2023 Pre-Order Window Update
"Following the Star Wars fanstream on Wednesday, we wanted to clarify the availability of the revealed items. We've heard your earlier feedback on the number of pre-orders, and we have decided to adjust the number of them in the new year. With the exception of the Star Wars: The Black Series Phase II Clone Commander Jesse, all of the items revealed on February 1 will not be going on pre-order. The products will be available on shelf and online during the scheduled dates. Please see those dates below and note they are subject to change."
So far only Jesse will go up for preorder. Everything else they showed is supposed to go up online and on shelves at the same time. The release times are mostly seasons (spring/summer, etc.), so I guess that narrows it down to a three-month range? Check this article for more non-specific specifics:

Re: Star Wars Black Series 2023 Pre-Order Window Update
Question: What's stopping individual stores from having pre-orders, regardless?
Does Hasbro mandate that there not be any pre-orders, or is it up to retailer to decide?
It's one thing to have a specific date for pre-orders to start, but it's a different thing for a store like Toy Snowman, or even GameStop to decide to put up pre-orders on their own.
Figures have been showing up so randomly lately that the stated release dates aren't even useful at this point. Which is why I'd rather just lock in the pre-order, and when it comes, it.comes. At least I know I don't have to keep an eye on retailers' sites, or drive around from store to store all the time.

Re: Star Wars Black Series 2023 Pre-Order Window Update
Don't know if there is anything to stop them, short of an embargo date to keep things fair between stores.
I guess it all comes down to the part where Hasbro provides the product, so they have the most pull. If they don't want to sell directly to you, you're going to be paying more and get it later than one of their preferred retailers.
We'll find out soon enough!
I can't take any preorder dates as solid from Hasbro anymore, more just as a "best-guess" scenario and then I try to count on it showing up two or three months earlier. I'd also prefer to lock in a preorder and wait for it to show. Then have it show roughly at the expected date.

This is utterly bizarre that they would announce his figure this early. I kept thinking that this had to be a mistake and that they meant 2023, not 2024.
Did anyone online ask them to confirm that it actually IS 2024?

Considering a Hasbro rep reposted the release dates in the same post addressing the preorder stuff, I think it's safe to say 2024 is indeed correct. It doesnt surprise me they'd announce him when hes so far out. Gotta give people something to look forward to.

Re: Star Wars Black Series 2023 Pre-Order Window Update
I was in a Gamestop in Montreal on Saturday morning (Feb 4th), and I noticed they had adds up at their figure displays saying that you could basically pre order figures in-store for upcoming Star Wars and G.I. Joe waves. Looks like there is some hope to be had, here at least? Can anyone else confirm they've seen these at their local Gamestop?

Were they cards on the pegs with pictures of specific figures? If so, that's how some stores have displayed upcoming pre-orders, but each card is specific to a figure (or other item). Now, not every store has these, and not every item available for pre-order has a card.
Ultimately, the only way to make a pre-order at GaneStop in store is to look it up in the computer, and make sure it's still available for pre-order. There may be a card on the peg, but that doesn't mean it's still available.
As for pre-ordering figures from these upcoming waves that don't have pre-orders, those tend to just show up in GameStop stores without any warning. Considering how late GameStop usually is adding announced pre-orders to their site, I wouldn't hold my breath for them to start adding their own random pre-orders...

I guess you could still in theory "preorder" things from places like Gamestop.
I'm sure when they do orders they will get X volume from whatever they order from Hasbro and you just are reserving yours from that allotment ?
Or hasbro just sends businesses stuff and you still reserve one by preordering it ?
I dunno...
