Re: Star Wars Black Series discussion
Got my Anakin and Obi-wan the other day in the mail. Just opened them today.
Anakin's pretty cool, though Hasbro can't seem to sculpt Hayden Christensen if their lives depended on it. I've heard the opinion that it's a hybrid look between real and cartoon, but if that was the case, why didn't the do that with Obi-wan? Obi-wan's a really nice rendition of Ewan, so the truth behind Anakin is that they simply futzed the likeness again, lol. Also, the bendy saber hilt...
Why Hasbro gives us firm saber hilts with some figures and then flaccid hilts with others is bothersome indeed.
My figure also has some ungly molding damage on the right forearm (anyone else get that?), but no biggy; it's 'battle damage.' Lastly, I really wish Hasbro would give us forward tilting wrists more often for Lightsaber wielding characters, like they did with the TCW Obi-wan...much more natural Saber poses.
Overall, this is still a fun figure, and I love the range of motion afforded by the soft plastic tunic and butterfly joints. The thing that got me most though was just how totally and awesomely nostalgic it was to open this old-school style Clone Wars packaging. More of this please Hasbro! (But you can keep the 'Exclusive' part).
