Re: Masters of the Universe Origins discussion

What do you folks think of the Club Greyskull membership from Mattel Creations? Any thoughts that it may be worthwhile?

Re: Masters of the Universe Origins discussion

It seems like a cheaper version of Hasbro's Pulse Premium membership.

The big difference seems to be no free shipping. Otherwise it seems to be offering similar incentives. The question is will it be worth it? That of course will depend on the offerings.

Personally I will probably give it a shot for the first year and see what happens. I just don't know that there is enough left in the line up of things I personally want/need for my collection.

But at $10US for the year it is a fairly cheap thing to try out once.

They better not make you get that membership in order to get the Fright Zone and the handfull of remaining Origins figures that haven't been released yet. That would be super greasy. It's bad enough you can only order them from the overpriced Creations site. Mattel wants to make collecting Origins as aggravating as possible.

It's a money grab, and they're counting on everyone saying "but it's only $10". They already make figures exclusive to Mattel Creations at will, so it's just another gate in front with a sign that says "gimme $10".

Will I pay it? Probably, if there's something I really want behind it. But most of the perks are things that didn't cost anything already, and they state there's no guarantee to be able to purchase the exclusives, so you're just ahead of the non-members when the preorders kick off, but still all trying to get through the same door at once.

End of the day, it's your $10. if having a toe in the door helps when ordering, then it's probably worth it.

BUT BUT BUT........................FOMO!!!!!!!!!!

I think the smartest thing they did was keep it cheap. Like you said it is just $10(US). It is an easy throw away for a year if someone is interested in the product.

I'm a Pulse Premium member an it was $83Cdn to renew last week. I mean that is about $10Cdn more than the current exchange rate, but of course that comes with using a credit card.

It will probably be my last year as a Pulse Premium member unless there is something I really want because they seem to be phasing out Haslabs more and more. So the big savings on shipping will be gone eventually and that leaves just big discounts during their sales and exclusive early access. Both of which are a tough sell at $50US.

So yeah the Club Graksull deal is okay in comparison, but there isn't much there right now.

On a related note...now that Mattel will be reaquiring the DC Comics license in the second quarter of 2026, I wonder if they'll start selling exclusive DC figures on the Mattel Creations website like they did with their now defunct Matty Collector website.

Probably a 100% chance of that.

They'll probably get a Club DC up and running as well. They already have a Barbie, Hotwheels and Monster High(?) club along with the new Club Grayskull.

It's disappointing that the New Etheria She-ra is a Walmart Collector Con exclusive, but it's not being sold by Walmart Canada. Only in the US.

Re: Masters of the Universe Origins discussion

None of the Walmart Masterverse stuff shows up here. Completely missed out on the retro Skeletor which was disappointing.
