Re: Marvel Legends discussion
I don't know exactly how Mcfarlane keeps his prices down but it probably helps he doesn't have a stupidly expensive license like Star War that doesn't have a bright future when it comes to toys.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion
Todd did an interview a couple years ago around when McFarlane took over the DC licence, in which he stated that one of his main goals was to see if they could produce equal or better quality figures for lower MSRP than 'the big companies'. Being a smaller company, likely having more manageable licencing deals, and having that price-saving mentality from day one probably all help contribute to being able to keep those prices down.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion
What galls me more than anything, especially with how much there is to be upset about, is the across the board increase.
The stock they have sitting on the shelves, in some cases for more than a year, which was already paid for at a lower wholesale price is just automatically upped to go along with the other prices. I understand why it happens based on the system the retailers use for stocking/selling, but it still galls me to no end.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion
I feel like Hasbro has gotten too big for their britches over the past 10 years with the resurgence of Star Wars, GI Joe, Marvel Legends and the acquiring of Power Rangers brand.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion
Where are they even getting the prices from?
I am fully aware our currency is worth less, but they used to be more of a 1:1 conversion from the USD price to CAD price, that's way off now.

Re: Marvel Legends discussion
Yea I'd like to know where they get these priceels too. Is it that our import taxes are too high so Hasbro is making us pay for it?

Re: Marvel Legends discussion
I think this is the fastest inflation when it comes to toys we've ever seen here in Canada. In 2016 we were still paying $25, 5 years later and it's went up $10. That's crazy if you think about it.

It's like gasoline isn't it...the stuff at the station isn't worth the same price it will be tomorrow yet we are sadly stuck with that price. Old figures on the shelf shouldn't magically increase in price...it's kinda greedy companies do that instead of producing a new SKU.

Sadly that rate is exact market value and very rarely is that the exact rate companies pay to exchange currencies.
Also your forgetting smaller market, smaller retail space to sell, more expensive shipping etc that does factor as well.
